Been going up to Beaver River all my life (53 years and counting!), and the Thompsons (owners of the Norridgewock) have always been a highlight of every trip! If you've never had the chance to visit remote Beaver River and the wonderful Norridgewock hotel, you're absolutely missing out! Put it on your bucket list and GO! There's no place like it!

If you are looking for a unique Adirondack experience that doesn’t involve tents, hard sleeping surfaces, or heavy backpacks, then you have to visit Beaver River! The Norridgewock River Boat - a large enclosed pontoon boat - will take you to this water-access hamlet from the public dock on Stillwater Reservoir. At the dock in Beaver River, a small bus will drive you the one mile distance to the Norridgewock Lodge where you can enjoy lunch and drinks at the family-run restaurant. I just went there this week and had a great day. Everyone from boat driver to bartender were welcoming and friendly. Lunch was tasty - feta/blueberry/pecan salad and chicken cutlet sandwich. Even with eating lunch, we had time to explore the hamlet before the Norridgewock River Boat returned to “the mainland”. We were able to bring our bikes with us and that made exploring even easier. We will definitely make this an annual trip during our summer stays in Old Forge!

We've never stayed here. Great spot tucked away in Beaver River. We've hiked here several times from Twitchell Lake. After a long hike nothing like a burger and beer. Atmosphere feels like home, people are kind, and food is good.

Full disclosure: My Wife's sister is married to a member of the family that owns this resort. This place is beautiful, rustic, and completely off the grid. If you are looking to spend your vacation on your phone, this place is not for you. If you are looking to relax, kayak, fish, swim, and disconnect from the craziness of the world then this will be paradise. This is only accessible by boat in the summer and sled in the winter. So, plan accordingly. The family that owns this resort treats everyone like family and goes out of their way to ensure your stay is great. I recommend this place to everyone.

Most people would never think they could be off the grid in NYS. This place is. You can only get there by boat in the summer and snowmobile in the winter. There is no power except for the generator. The proprietors do provide WiFi, again off of their generator. And the proprietors offer good drinks and good conversation for everyone.||||The food is very good and fresh. They recently changed from waitress service to a more 'cafeteria style service. The quality is excellent, though it separates the bar and food service. Ah well, change happens. We still never hesitate to head there by sled!

This is one of my favorite places I have ever been! The Thompson family have a great place here. Super clean, all the people are great and the food is very tasty. I come back couple times a year. Very highly recommended

Great staff is friendly and accommodating. The location is the biggest draw. To get here is part of the fun. There are no roads into town. So, hike or boat in the summer or snowmobile or ski/snowshoe in the winter. Once you're here, food, drinks and the outdoors. They have kayaks that guests can use to explore the Beaver River area, and nothing but a simple portage over a road and an unused railroad to get there.

Having visited the Stillwater area and boated & camped on Stillwater Reservoir, I was aware that the isolated community of Beaver River existed...but I had never been there. This past weekend, we corrected that mistake. We rode the "riverboat" from Stillwater landing for a weekend at Norridgewock Lodge. Every aspect of the weekend was great, and we will definitely be visiting again. Motel rooms were quite nice and they also have cabins available. Restaurant food , service & atmosphere were great. Very friendly place, owned by long-term resident family. These folks have a vested interest in the area and are very happy to share local info and history.
