The cupboard where the mini fridge was located was very dirty. The charging port on the desk was covered in grime. The hotel offers plenty of clean towels to use and the soaker tub was nice sized. Their air conditioner was fantastic. The front desk people were very welcoming and friendly. Unfortunately we noticed that one of the pillow cases had something gross on it. The trolly can be heard from the room and was very, very loud. It runs from 6:00am to 11:00pm and runs by the hotel about every 5 minutes. They should warn their guests about this, since there is a pretty good chance that it will keep you up late, until it stops at 11:00pm and will for sure wake you up the following morning, when it starts at 6:00am. Room Service is only for breakfast from 7:00am to 10:30am. They do not offer anything for lunch or dinner. They also would not deliver rokm service, so they told me to call the restaurant, and when I called, no onenpicked up. I called several times and never got through to anyone. They also don't offer a single premium movie channel.

We enjoyed our 4 day stay so much that we considered adding a day. The hotel is beautiful, the suite was comfortable and the overall stay was excellent. Everything was very clean and the staff are attentive and helpful. The negatives were that the phone in the suite did not work, the coffee maker did not work either. We didn't complain about them because they serve excellent coffee in the lobby - but it doesn't start until 7:00 am. Another reviewer complained about the noise of the Max lightrail. I am a light sleeper and very sensitive to noise, but I did not find the Max lightrail to be intrusive to sleep. It stops sometime before midnight and doesn't start up until morning. Even if you hear it, it makes a brief chug sound and stops. Otherwise we didn't hear a thing - nice and quiet. Jake's was excellent and we ate breakfast there every day and also 2 dinners. The prices are reasonable. We were hoping the fold out couch would be made up when we arrived. We asked the front desk to respond and bring linens and housekeeping came quickly and made the bed for us. I would return. It is a special place and convenient to everything, great location.

The hotel is so welcoming. I never realized how nice it was inside. The staff was so kind and knowledgeable about the history of the building. The happy hour wine and coffee offering is a nice touch. The room was so comfortable. Will have to book here again.

From the moment the reservation was made until their valet kindly closed my door before driving away, Sentinel Hotel dotted every ‘I’ and crossed every ‘T’! Celebrating my husband’s major milestone birthday there was just stellar. Our large corner room with fireplace aglow and classical music playing upon entry provided a wonderful getaway… we were delighted to find a chilled bottle of wine awaiting as their gift to him. We walked to fine dining and a French bakery the next morning after a wonderful cup of coffee in our room. We loved our first visit to Portland and shall definitely return to the Sentinel upon our return!

Comfortable (soft) beds. But small. Large lovely rooms and amazing spaces to see and visit throughout this old historical hotel. Loud, youthful bar but wonderful and mature wine room.||Spectacular architecture! Wonderfully accepting of pets.

The room was beautiful as well as the hotel in its entirety. Having travelled around the world for business as well as personal escapes would certainly recommend this hotel for BOTH business and romantic get aways. Well done. Oh and staff are extremely attentive and helpful.
