Yes it was indeed a pleasant surprise staying at Vilvam. We availed three rooms at Vilvam for a day during the annual festival of Our Lady of La Salette in August. It is a Home away from Home. We had a peaceful and comfortable Home stay. The staff were very courteous and their service was good. Food was being prepared on orders as per our wish and served hot. We had all our meals there itself and our children enjoyed it. The rooms were small but the bed was so smooth and good, seems to be expensive. The interiors were well planned. The Home stay is little far away from the main town, but few attractions like upper lake view are walk-able.

A very neat and clean place to stay. Food is home-made and delicious. Manager Ranjit and home-chef Selvam were very welcoming and helpful. Our family stayed for two nights and had a pleasant stay. Definitely would recommend for stay.

Kodaikanal is one of the most pleasant hill stations in India with amazing weather. When we visited here in a group, we chose Vilvam homestay for our stay and we are happy with our choice. The homestay is located a bit outside the town and the homestay owner Mr.Siva and the manager will help you with directions.||Vilvam is located on the road and hence no specific place for parking, but vehicles can be parked on the road, not a problem.||The homestay has comfortable rooms and since we were in a group all the 4 + 1 rooms were given to us. There is an annexe and even the driver was given a room. Kodai is a place where you never need an AC or fan, it is chilly throughout, Vilvam has a room heater provided to deal with the chill. There is even a small library. And free Wifi available.||The best part is the service by caretaker Selvam and his wife who treated us like family members and ensured that we ate to our full and gave us coffee when we wanted (with extra coffee being at reasonable rates). Traditional south indian food is their forte and they excel in it. We planned a trip to the Berijam lake forest, for which you need a permit from forest dept, Vilvam took care of getting the permit and even neatly packed lunch (in ample quantities) for us - in huge tiffin carriers.||Only problem was on the last day, there was a power outage and the caretakers had to boil water for us to bath on the stove which was a problem. This is one area for improvement.||We had a great stay at Kodai thanks to the comfortable stay and homelike food and good service - all at reasonable rated. For those visiting Kodai, you need not look beyond Vilvam - but of course you need your own vehicle as this is outside town. ||Overall it is great value for money and highly recommended.

Stayed at Vilvam for 3 days in May 2015. Great experience! I found Vilvam while I was looking through TripAdvisor. We were a group of 8 from Bangalore and Vilvam was perfect for our needs. Mr.Siva was very helpful right from the first time I contacted him over e-mail. Very prompt and detailed inputs made me pick Vilvam for our stay. Mr.Siva also helped with preparing an itinerary for us based on our interests and connected us with a local travel company for cab services while we were in Kodaikanal. The driver called even before we reached Kodaikanal to make sure everything was on schedule and was waiting for us when our bus reached. Once we got to Vilvam we were greeted by Mr. Durai, Babu, Eswari and Amudha who were the best hosts. The food was amazing! Home cooked delicious food all through our stay (so much so, that we did not even venture trying any of the restaurants!). The house is very well maintained and the staff is extremely courteous and helpful. Even with the food, they were very accommodating to include dishes that the group wanted. I highly recommend Vilvam for anyone who is visiting Kodaikanal, specially if you are in a group. Had a great experience staying there and will definitely pick them if I get to visit again!

We visited Vilvam over a weekend of May. It is located few kms (max 5kms) away from most attractions in Kodai. The room was spacious, the bed comfortable, and the hot shower lovely in the chilly morning. Excellent Hospitality. The food is prepared on your request as its charged separately on actual basis.||The only issue was, one of the TV’s wasn’t working (we had booked 2 rooms there) but then who comes to kodai to watch TV ;)||||Overall a wonderful stay.

We spent 4 days at Vilvam in May 2015. It is home away from home! We were lucky to have the whole place to ourselves.||||It is perfectly located - in a peaceful location away from the crowded part of the town, but within a 5 minute drive from the center.||||Mr Siva was very helpful right from the beginning. He called to check on us before we started from Bangalore and also while we were on the way back home.||||Vilvam is their ancestral home, with 5 rooms + a kitchen, dining area. Rooms on the ground floor are slightly larger so if you like more personal space choose a room downstairs. The caretakers Babu and Eswari were very helpful. They went out of their way to make us comfortable.||||The home-cooked food was mouth-watering delicious. If you stay in Vilvam for a long duration, you will definitely put on some weight!||||The terrace is nice and quiet, perfect for a cup of tea in one hand and a book in another! Only thing missing on the terrace is bean bags or some comfortable chairs to give you that lazy and content feeling. We definitely recommend Vilvam if you are looking for a quiet and peaceful holiday.
