Belli Moda Homestay

My family and I had an amazing stay here. The scenery is so picturesque. The room’s veranda is located facing the beautiful Mullayanagiri hills. While sipping on tea/ coffee in the veranda and looking at the mountains and scenery it feels like heaven. The hospitality was good and we had a great time. The ambience was great I would like to thank Sudarshan Sir for hosting us.

We spent 2 nights & 2 days at this wonderful homestay during early July 2016. Its a beautiful bungalow owned by Mr. Sudarshan Sir in the Thippanahalli coffee estate. From the point we arrived and were greeted by the owner to the time we checked out 2 days later, everything was perfect, The entire property has the main house (bungalow) with a guest room and just two cottages. So you can expect a maximum of three families at any point of time making this a very peaceful place. Although it is on the Attigundi main road, we did not feel disturbed by the vehicles.||||Now coming to the most astounding part of the homestay - it gives a beautiful view of Mullayangiri mountain range. Although we went in monsoons and it was raining throughout, we got brief glimpses of the mountains right from our cottage bed and balcony. The place has beautiful gardens with lots of flowering plants inside the compound & wild lilies growing carefree outside. The courtesy of staff was great and food was fresh & homely in all meals. Sudarshan Sir happens to be the President of the Golf Club and he invited us to visit the place on one of the evenings. One would also enjoy the decor and artefacts in the main house.||||I would highly recommend this place for a stay in Chikmagalur as it is close to Mullayangiri as well as Chikmagalur city. We would definitely come back to stay here around Oct/Nov time. Do checkout our pics of this homestay.

Belli Moda 🎆🌦️🏞️🖼️🌠 the name itself states it all.. Silver cloud in everyone's lifetime. The best home stays ever experienced till now by me n my husband. What an amazing place n hospitality.. Simply lovely 😍 the breath taking view of mullayanagiri hills from our cottage was mesmerising. We got completely drenched in this naturely feeling and awesome climate. Above all amazing, wise, so social n people oriented owners of this home stay Sudarshan Kaka-Kaku..extremely loving n humble people. And not to forget the most caring staff here especially shankar, so very soft spoken. We had an amazing stay n wonderful experience, memories to cherish for lifetime. |This home stay is a must visit at least once in your life time for a heavenly experience.. At the outset, I wish to thank Mr Sudharshan for accommodating us at Belli Moda at a short notice. ||We arrived at Belli Moda homestay after a week's drivetrip of coastal Karnataka not knowing what Chikamagalur or Belli Moda would have in store for us. The first sight of the property swept me off my feet - jaw-dropping views of the green, cloud-topped mountains towering above the beautifully manicured lawns and pretty garden of the property located at the foothills. Splendid, probably the best green landscape in its class that I've witnessed in my many travel indulgences. Mr Sudharshan's own villa stands majestically at the center of the property. ||Belli Moda comprises just two cottages, both providing identical views and amenities. The property is located inside the sprawling Thippanahalli Estate located at the foothills of the Baba Budangiri hills of Chikamagalur. ||The cottages are as cozy as can be with the woody insides giving them a heritage look and feel. The upkeep is exceptional and there's everything you'd ever need.||As good as the property is, Mr Sudharshan and his wife personify rich culture and hospitality, speaking volumes of their distinguished lineage. They'd make it a point to come meet us and check if we were comfortable. The food that is prepared in their own kitchen was authentic local cuisine, and to say the least, irresistible and pure.||That I'd love to go back to Belli Moda (meaning 'Silver Cloud' in local lingo) would be an understatement. It's another name for Bliss - a treat to all your senses !

Well what can I say. If one is looking for a true homestay this is it. This is a mansion in the Thippanahalli Estate at the foothills of Mullayangiri, the tallest peak in Karnataka amidst huge swathes of Coffed Plantation, 6km away from the maddening crowd of Chikkamagalur. Just 2 well furnished cottages with lots and lots of wooden panelling, 1 room in the main house. If one is looking for solitude, privacy, great views of mullayangiri, home cooked food and to top it fantastic hospitality this is the place. Mr. Shankar was ever present attending to our needs at all times. From the word go Mr. Sudarshan was a perfect host. He showed us the estate where the yesteryear blockbuster Belli Moda was shot. The 85 year old mansion where his brother lives was well preserved with manicured gardens and lots of memorabilia related to the Araluguppe family was enchanting. For those who love family tree there is a 300 year flow chart of the family with interesting anecdotes about the family from Mr. Sudarshan. We loved the place, we watched Belli Moda movie on our I Pad and listened to the delightful songs of Belli Moda multiple times. By the by Mr. Sudarshan is the President and Founder member of 18 hole Chikmagalur Golf Club. Being a avid golfer myself through the offices of Mr. Sudarshan enjoyed a fine round of golf and also stayed for a night at the club.

A heritage home located in lovely picturesque ambience. The rooms are nice and clean with good amenities. The homemade food is delicious. And most of all, the owner Mr Sudarshan who lives on the property, takes personal care of the guests. An amazingly wonderful person. You can also get access to the Golf Club located close by since he is the founder President. All in all a fabulous place for spending some quality relaxing time.

Belli Moda is a hidden gem in the Thippanahalli estate. ||With a sprawling manicured lawn, a beautifully landscaped garden, a cute white picket fence & a picture perfect home with the 2 cottages, all this & then the majestic Mullyangiri (Karnataka's highest peak) towering in front of Belli Moda, this one is quite a visual treat! Simply one of the best views.||||We traveled here twice (Feb) & then again in Oct to experience the sprawling green lawns. Its quite a site during the rains with Mullyangiri covered in its greens.||In Oct, due to the heavy rains, the lovely garden was wiped out & was being relaid.||||The place is maintained very well & there's a lot of attention to detail. The cottages are cute & tastefully done. The lighting is a little on the dull side. On request, if there is a large group, they may also setup a small campfire. During our stay, Sudarshan uncle also hosted us at the Golf club where he is a president. There are 2 small dogs at the property. Try to familiarize with them. If you are a dog lover, you may love their company! :) The tariff feels slightly on the higher side. But money well spent.||||Suchitra aunty & Sudarshan uncle are gracious hosts as always. Shankar & the entire staff adds a lot of value. The filter coffee was one of the best I had. Meals were homely & great. If you like simple local food, you may love the meals. We felt the food was better during our 1st visit.||||Do go for the estate walk in the mornings with Sudarshan uncle. You should also visit Thippanahalli down below which is the family residence. A trip to the Mullyangiri is a must (check about the road condition though)!||||Overall, what an experience. Needless to say, we loved visiting here a second time in a year.
