Balakrishna Niwas Homestay

Location is peaceful , calm with amazing views of mountains. Food was great, South Indian food along with some local dishes . Host Babu Sowmayya took very good care during our stay. All in all had a very comfortable stay and perfect family outing.

We had an amazing stay at Balakrishna Niwas Homestay in Madikeri! The host, Mr. Babu Somaiyya, was exceptionally warm and welcoming, making us feel right at home. His maid prepared delicious Kodagu cuisine alongside traditional vegetarian dishes, offering an authentic taste of the local culture. The rooms were incredibly spacious, clean, and well-maintained, with breathtaking views of nature all around. The peaceful and pristine surroundings of the homestay were some of the best we've experienced in Madikeri, providing a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. We highly recommend Balakrishna Niwas Homestay to anyone looking for a cozy and rejuvenating stay in Coorg. Thank you, Mr. Babu, for your outstanding hospitality!

This place os awesome, nice view from balcony. We had gerat coffee time and enjoyed the view, this is top of hills srounded by greenery. Most importantly home made food is really great, I would suggest to have food here , Bala sir i made us feel like home, very peaceful place to Enjoy coorge veiw from top

The homestay is run by Mr. Somaiah, who has been very helpful and accommodating and making us feel completely at home. ||||Balakrishna Niwas would be one of the homestay with a great location (also considering the proximity to the city centre). However, the only challenge would be the slight uphill drive, due to the bad patch of road for almost 500 mts. Though, on calling Mr. Somaiah, he can even send his own car for pick up. And on reaching the homestay, you can soak in the beautiful view, both from the room as well as the compound. The rooms as well the bathrooms are spacious and how, with the rooms giving a spectacular view of the sunset(check the image attached). ||||The food at Balakrishna was just too good and the portions were quite generous too. You can let the cook, Raju, know your choice, whether veg or non veg and he will prepare a lip smacking meal. His wife Lakshmi, was very caring and hospitable too. The non veg meal is reasonably priced at INR 250, while veg meal at INR 150. It's super cheap considering both the quality and quantity!||||Overall a very comfortable stay and a great, tanquil place. Thank you for making it a good one for us.

This homestay is on top of a small hill and has great view from the rooms. There are total of 4 bedrooms out of which 3 are of very good size. These rooms have a big glass window and a balcony overlooking the valley. The caretaker "Raju" took very good care of us and made good food. The owner "Mr. Babu" also visited us everyday to make sure that we are comfortable there. Overall a very good experience for people who are looking for some peace and to be with the nature !!

We stayed at Balakrishna Niwas for two nights. The rooms are really big, however, lack maintenance. We were told that they were unable to maintain due to heavy rains, which is a fair point, considering the fact that there were heavy rains before, during, and after our stay as well (it was all over the news). I really hope that the maintenance issue is taken care of as I would love to visit again. The view from the rooms is amazing. The bungalow is on top of a hill and the approach road is a bit of a pain. The road is too narrow and too steep. One has to be very careful while driving here. The caretaker was pretty nice, but definitely over worked. The food was really good, made to order according to our tastes. The only issue with this place is the cleanliness and maintenance and I urge the owners to fix this and I am sure that everyone who stays here will have no reason to rate this below 5.

We visited this homestay. Our experience was very difficult. We had a very difficult drive to the place. Have to climb a steep cliff to reach it. Beware if you are not an expert driver, you will be caught there, your vehicle will reverse! Rooms were okay, not much maintenance now. The bathrooms were neat, and the clothes were clean. The food and hill view was very good. The place needs strict maintenance and revamp which the owner should consider!. The positive is the view but you will have to risk the drive to reach this place! Not a paid review! It's our experience! Thank you!

Stayed here for 2 nights. The plan was to just relax at the homestay eat good food, reach a few books and laze around in the evening with a couple of beers. We did just that.||The property is pretty basic, with standard amenities. The bathroom was spacious and clean, except that the water was not too hot for taking a shower. As the property sits on a hillock, the view is also pretty decent. ||The owner is an ex army and when we met up with him he was super kind, told us some stories from back in the end and drove us into town for a small medical emergency. ||The cook is from kolkata and made great tasting food with local ingredients. Dal roti and sabzi was the usual fare for most meals. Since the cook didnt know how to cook the local declicay - Pandi curry( pork), the host arranged it for us from a nearby local joint. ||The city is located less than 3 kms. ||Overall it was 2 days spent well.
