The cleanest and nice room ever- a lot of space, every detail is thought out. The host and his wife were extremely friendly and helpful. We were provided with a breakfast, it also was awesome. The location for national park visitors is perfect. I can’t imagine such a lovely place. Highly recommended for everyone

Do not be misled by the 4.6-star reviews of this property. The only positive aspect here is its convenient location — very close to the Periyar Boat Safari ticket counter and other attractions like the Elephant Camp, Kathakali/Kalari Centre, and the popular Tusker Café. We had booked a specific room based on the photographs shared online, but upon arrival, we were given their smallest room. The explanation provided was that since we arrived late, the room we booked had been given to someone else who checked in earlier. This clearly indicates that rooms are allotted on a first-come, first-serve basis, not according to what you book — a clear sign of unprofessionalism. To make matters worse, the room had an air conditioner installed but we were denied access to it, as no remote was provided. The owner’s reasoning was that “the weather doesn’t really require AC in the evenings.” For a hot and humid place like Kerala, this was completely unacceptable. When we requested access, he said, “It wasn’t mentioned in your booking details.” While technically true, we stayed at four other homestays during our trip where AC wasn’t listed but still provided, as it’s a basic necessity in this climate. The room also had a cupboard, but half of it was locked and inaccessible to guests — again misleading from what’s shown in the photos. So essentially, we got a cramped room, a non-functional AC, and half a cupboard. The biggest disappointment, however, was the breakfast. Though it was included in the tariff, it was never served. The owner mentioned that his wife, who cooks, was unwell — which is understandable. He suggested we have breakfast at Tusker Café instead and assured us he would cover the bill. The next morning, after returning late from the early morning boat safari (we left at 5 AM), we reached Tusker Café around 10:15 AM only to find breakfast was over. Our driver then took us to another nearby café. When we showed the bill to the owner later, he refused to reimburse it, stating it wasn’t from Tusker Café. If he had truly prepaid there, why wasn’t the food held back for his guests? Clearly, this was poor management and lack of accountability. To top it all, one of our valuable personal belongings was damaged due to the carelessness of their house help. The owner apologized only after I had to firmly express how serious the matter was, especially given my health condition as a chronic patient. Still, there was no genuine acknowledgment or sense of responsibility for the damage caused. Even our driver later mentioned that one of his previous guests had faced the same issue with the “hidden AC remote,” so this seems to be their usual practice. Overall, this property is far from being called a homestay — not even close to a decent hotel experience. If negative ratings were possible, this place would deserve one. Unless you want to stay here only for its location, I would strongly advise looking elsewhere. The owners might have a beautiful house and garden for themselves, but their attitude toward guests is careless, unprofessional, and sarcastic.

Had a great experience and hospitality in the home stay owned by Mr. Felix. We had a wonderful time together and stay was neat and comfortable. Authentic home made breakfast. Just next to Periyar tiger reserve parking. Very easy to reach any places around Kumily. Good for families to stay. We really loved the balcony view rooms.

What to say....it's an unbelievable experience that we received yesterday. A well maintained homestay that brings the nature inside. Rooms and other associated amenities are superb. Everything is very neat and clean and there's no odour inside the room like other hotel/home stay. Their hospitality is remarkable. Sorry I don't have any picture of the room.
