NillI celebrated my bachelorette with friends at the Willow Way, and it was the bestest trip for me and my friends. The food was outstanding !! Even the staff and their service is top notch. I highly recommend going to the willow way. Cannot wait to actually go back. They created my bachelorette set up which was very sweet. Winter, bonfire, best food, amazing service and great company, now what else does a person need on their trip! Special thanks goes to Mr. Nav Arun and Ms. Savita who hosted the 12 of us. Thank you! Will be coming back very very soon!

NillNainital is a special place in northern India, unknown to most westerners unless they're passing through to the spiritual sites in the region. One should definitely plan to spend at least two nights to enjoy the serene lake and delicious food, and your trip will be enhanced if you stay at The Willow Way Homestay. Nav Arun and his Aunt and Uncle are outstanding hosts. They even gave us gifts for the birthday we were celebrating! Very, very kind and knowledgable, they anticipated our every need and were responsive and courteous. They arranged cabs and helped us get from the train in Kathgodam to Nainital, and then on Kainchi Dham and Kasar Devi outside Almora. They speak perfect English which certainly helps. We were able to pay the deposit to secure our rooms with a wire transfer from the USA and the balance in cash when we arrived (no western credit cards, I don't know about local UPI options). There is a restaurant on-site with a TERRIFIC cook, and you can opt for omelettes and toast made-to-order or other continental fare for the included breakfast if you prefer it over Indian cuisine. We also ate two fantastic Indian dinners — so good! Our room was large and comfortable with good light and screens to keep out bugs. It was a bit damp, but we didn't want to run the heater so that's on us. It was nice and cool at night (we like the cold) and the blankets were heavy and warm and just how we like it. We slept perfectly. The bathroom was adequate. The sink faucet had a small leak that dripped steadily on the counter top. The hot water took a while to get to temperature from the "Geezer" hot water tank that you have to switch on, and it provided enough water for one hot shower, so we had to wait for it reheat for the second shower. I would suggest instead of showering using the hot water to fill a bucket and washing that way. It's more pleasurable and environmentally friendlier! I had to work while we were there and my job requires large photos and graphics to go back and forth to the USA. The Wifi was exceptional and I had ZERO problems transferring the materials. Please note that the location is high on the hill and the roads are narrow, curvy, bumpy and very difficult. This is common to most places you'll stay in Nainital, unless you're in town where it's very congested and noisy. The drivers are all used to the roads, but it was a shock to us. It's NOT an easy walk to town. There's a shortcut and they'll even send a guide to help you navigate it, but it's rather treacherous and at least 15-20 minutes down slippery moss-covered steps and stone streets, so be careful, or be prepared to spend about US$5 each way to get down to town and back, plus an extra 10-15 minutes waiting for the ride. Also, you'll need to walk down about 30 steps to get to your room, the office and the dining space, and those same steps up to get back to the street level. Again, we didn't mind (steps are good exercise) but it can be a problem for people with accessibility issues or bad knees. Overall, we feel very happy with our experience at The Willow Way and look forward to our return.

NillWe visited The Willow way Homestay in May'24 and we were welcomed by Mr Nav Arun the owner of the homestay who made our stay very comfortable in all aspects taking care of our minute needs. Thank you Mr Nav Arun. My kids and I are always concerned about the washroom which was spick and span. Another special mention would be about the very yummy meals that we enjoyed at the homestay. We felt like a home away from home. The staff is very prompt in service n very co-operative. Mr Nav Arun also introduced us to his family who were very welcoming. The forest view was extremely beautiful and serene. Overall an excellent stay.
