Yuma D Homestay

We stayed 3 nights at Yuma Homestay in early November. Our host and his family and staff are delightful and we felt very welcome. The property is situated on the top floor of the building and is ideally located for day trips, hikes, toy train, shopping. There is a shopping center close by where we got our Indian sim card for mobile phone. Taxi stand, train station, main shopping streets and hiking paths easily accessible. Our host was very helpful and gave us excellent tips for walking as we hike a lot in our own country. Breakfast was freshly prepared and was a good start for an active day. We had dinner twice, delicious home cooking much better than any restaurant - so delicious, yummy. We loved the patio/terrace full of flowers and other plants, and I started the mornings with a few minutes there enjoying the view. This was our very first trip to India and our trip to Darjeeling and especially staying at Yuma Homestay helped us to a great start to this wonderful country. I would recommend Yuma Homestay if it’s your first trip to India, or if you are traveling alone or want a home from home. Lucy and Alexander from Germany.

We had the most wonderful stay at Yuma D Homestay. It truly is a homestay, we were welcomed and kindly guided throughout our stay (arranged taxi's and tours). The Husband and Wife team along with the kind girls made us feel at home. The food was outstanding (fresh and tasty!) and we were even allowed to watch and learn from the wife who cooked of the best curries we had in India. The location is central but off the busy main road with a spectacular view of the mountain range. We were lucky enough to spend our mornings taking in the view with a delicious chai. We cannot recommend this enough. Thank you again!

We had the most wonderful experience staying at Yuma D Homestay in Darjeeling from 22nd December to 24th December 2025. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with a warm, homely ambiance that made us feel right at ease. The rooms were impeccably neat and clean, with stunning wooden work that added a unique charm. All the staff were warm and friendly, but a special mention goes to Dheeraj Bhaiya, the owner. He not only made us feel welcome but also gave us fantastic tips on which places to visit and the best routes to take. His personalized guidance made our trip even more memorable. The food was also a highlight—delicious and full of flavor : it also added to the homely experience, a true delight after a day of exploring Darjeeling. The view ( Kanchenjunga and the entire range - Sleeping Buddha ) from the rooms and the terrace garden was absolutely breathtaking – something you have to experience to believe! We were fortunate enough to get atleast a room ( we reserved two rooms; the other one was notably spacious, featuring a separate sitting area ) with a view that left us in awe every time we looked out. It was like something straight out of a postcard! Although the homestay is located on a busy road and parking can be a little bit tricky due to the traffic congestion, the location is still perfect. It's close to key spots like the Toy Train Station, hired car/taxi stand, and the Mall/Shopping Zone, making it super convenient to explore Darjeeling. One thing to note: the homestay is situated at the top of another hotel ( Jagjeet Hotel Yuma ), so don't be confused by the map location. The two-floor homestay offers a cozy retreat amidst the bustling city. Overall, the stay was beyond amazing, and I would definitely visit again if given the chance. The memories made here will stay with me forever! Highly recommend Yuma D Homestay for anyone looking to experience Darjeeling in comfort and warmth. Great memories, great food, great people! This is my first visit there. The property is very beautiful. The owner is very friendly. It's just on the mall road. Location is great. View is great. Food is Delicious. All the rooms are wooden rooms, so it's non smoking area in side the room. The home stay is open till 10.30p.m. Nice homely stay. It's hardly 10min walk to the darjeeling mall. Only one thing in this home stay food is not included. You have to buy food . We have a nice time there.

One of the best host and hospitality we ever came across.We have planned to visit Darjeeling to celebrate our baby boy's first birthday and starting from the beginning they have made it memorable.We were desperately waiting to see Kanchenjunga on his birthday morning and Dheeraj Sir called us and informed kanchenjunga view is clear today and we can enjoy the view. Their private terrace is an add on to it.We loved every bit of the homestay. Sir and mam both were helpful and very humble.They have allowed us to use kitchen for cooking babyfood as well.We will surely be staying in their place if we visit Darjeeling in future for sure 😊

We booked this homestay randomly. There was a sense of anxiety during booking as to how will the homestay be , regarding security, child care and place of living. But it turned out to be very good. We as a family of three, enjoyed our time by watching Kanchanjanga and sipping coffee. My toddler was happy with the space provided to play. We were treated as the family of the owner. The staff was good and friendly as well. The food was good. They even prepared light food for the kid. The ambience was good, lots of greenery within the homestay itself. The famous "Mall road" was 10 minutes walking distance from the homestay.

One of the best stays in Darjeeling near mall road. It provides magnificent view of kanchenjunga and also the view of the entire city tucked in the mountains straight from it's Terrance, and from many other corners of the homestay. Just 8-10 mins walking from mall road. Very easy to locate. Shared cabs towards Ramada, stops right in front of the homestay to drop you off. The staff are very polite and Dheeraj Dada is an amazing host. No need to mention anything about the aesthetic of the place, I think the pictures itself are speaking that out loud. Just keep in mind that you need to climb stairs to reach the homestay as it is on the 4th/5th floor.

Highly recommended for everyone planning to visit the Queen of Hills (Darjeeling). Our stay (8th to 12th Oct 2024) turned more memorable with Dhiraj ji and Sushma ji's hospitality, their promptness in ensuring all arrangements (be it driver, food, room services, places to visit, or shopping joints), summed together the experience was 'awesome'. The homestay is well-situated from Mall, Hope/ Glenary's, Keventers, Mahakal temple, taxi stand, curio shops and Chowk bazaar; very safe, hygienic, Wi-fi enabled with all basic amenities accessible 24X7. View of the Kanchenjunga is a bonus (provided fog and clouds are not against you), from the well curated roof-top garden of the homestay, and your private room too. In all, its a must visit place within reasonable price for a wonderful time holidaying with your loved ones/ solo journey. Happy travelling!
