Madpackers Dharamkot (McLeodganj)

Beautiful location. In winters you will also get snowfall here. Wake up to a very refreshing view of Mcloed from your room. The room has one complete glass wall with a balcony. You will have to climb a little bit to the top of the hill to reach there but trust me the hard work is worth it.

~38 minute walk from McLeod Ganj or 300 rupee taxi but so worth it. For anyone who enjoys nature, the walk itself is very beautiful and the view from the hostel every morning we woke up was incredible. As it is outside of the hustle and bustle we had very quiet and peaceful evenings. We booked for 2 nights and ended up staying 9! Rooms were clean and modern. Bulla was so helpful and gave us many recommendations for things to do in the local area which made it a very special stay. Will recommend to everyone who comes to Dharamkot area.

Stay was awsm. Rooms were really good. Washroom was clean. View was great. Their open cafe area was awesome. They have lots of games n stuff. Only 2 minus points: - they dont provide extra blanket in so much cold. - they should improve their cooking. Rest view and location is outta world.

- The location of this hostel/semi-resort is best in Dharamkot and that should be reason enough for someone to give it a try! - The owner and other staff are really helpful as any other place in Himachal. - Rooms are HUGE with a view to soak in from the balcony. - Fire in the open cafe(Molly's) everyday, not like other places nearby who do it once/twice a week - Good place to work as there is not much noise or loud music around - Cook has magical hands and will serve you delicious food, whatever you order - Amazing short hikes in the jungle and the mountain it is on to keep you vested throughout your stay. There are some misses as well: - You have to hike to reach the place, which is true for almost all properties in Dharamkot anyway. It's not their fault is govt is not making a road to the place - Rooms are NOT noise proof, you can't ignore couple fighting in the side room :P. Dorms are okay I guess - Not much hostel like vibes, more like a resort with dorms. Staff is okay with parties but I guess it's not that kind of town :) P.S. I stayed for a week and this is my honest opinion of the place

Dorms were so small that there were 6 beds in a room where literally 1 double bed couldn't possibly fit. Also washroom doors were not getting locked due to which whole room was stinking like anything. I would never recommend this property. Even hosts were not that welcoming.

This is one fantastic stay to live in. Few points to consider. - Don't take the path from Bhagsunag, you'll regret. - Auto takes 150 till the "Chadhai" - You will have to walk for 200m - There are beautiful cafes along - Make sure you have the booking ready. - If you are coming for a day only better book a room in main square area.

I would say the location was great and it's quite a worth to hike till the hostel and seeing such a amazing view. Apart from that I didn't like the servicing and toilets were not clean all the time. And to reach there, need to take the cab from the Mcleod - Charges around 300 rs. Further there is trek of around 200 meters.

Very difficult to reach, Rooms have cold air leaks. The cafe is good enough. Location wise, a trek of about 500m is required to be able to reach the property from the closest motorable road. Taxis will charge ₹300-400 to reach this motorable road. Autos will charge ₹150, but will stop at a spot fast from the closest motorable point, and a very steep inclination will have to be climbed manually.
