1. Lovely hotel housed in an old building which adds to the charm. Located in the colorful ,historic nd lovely Fountainhas area. I had a lovely view to my room too.|2. The room type I booked was nice and spacious and enough equipped. |3. Room and common spaces are clean.|4. Coffee is self service in dining space. Breakfast is at additional cost. No other meals are provided but there are many highly rated eateries , bars ,cafes and tapas just around the building and one can also order via Swiggy etc or even request te staff. But the area is so pretty and lively that one feels like stepping out. It looked prettier due to Christmas .|5. The staff Krishna and Surya and Manager Aspak Shaikh took good care and were always helpful. |Highly recommended if one enjoys stays as described above. It is also accessible to some near by sightseeing and historic residences by walk.

Mateus is a home from home style hotel. Aspak and his team provide an exceptional welcome and “can do service”. Completely made it for me.||The Mateus is the only place to be in Goa’s capital, Panjim. Check out the suite room where you can wake up to a spectacular view each morning. ||My stay gave me a feel of the glory days of Goa in 60’s and 70’s with its beautiful original features. The atmosphere is very old world style in keeping with some of the beautiful old houses in the local region. ||The Mateus even has a small pool that I will look forward to experiencing next time I visit. All very reasonably priced.

Mateus Boutique Hotel was a real gem in all respects in the heart of Panaji in the famous Fontainhas area.|Right from calling them direct and talking to the lady in charge of reservations and overall supervision of the place Mrs. Cleta Fernandes to the other three members onsite, the warmth, care and hospitality was impeccable going over and beyond the call of the hospitality industry.|The place has been beautifully refurbished retaining the old world charm and giving it a classic and quiet guest house feel with the well annointed nine rooms as opposed to a modern multi room and busy hotel. The place has a quiet dignity and feel to it. |Mrs. Fernandes, was an epitome of genuine hospitality. When she heard that I felt that one of the lights above the bathroom mirror was dim she followed up and had it changed.|Mr. Ashpak, the Manager onsite was wonderful in his quite and helpful manner and very respectful and friendly.|Surya, the housekeeping staff member was very good in his friendly manner. Krishna, the breakfast chef/housekeeping member was good and friendly too. The entire team made Mateus feel genuinely a home away from home. They all combinedly treated you like a close relative come home to them. Need I say more!

It’s Good boutique hotel to stay near casinos. One who likes to stay in 150 years old house should definitely stay there. Portugal style buildup. The staff is good very friendly and helping in every situation. Limited breakfast with good tase. Nice place to stay. Will be definitely staying again whenever i go.

Cosy hotel nestled amidst cosy lanes of Fontainhas. Beautifully restored preserving the original Portuguese architecture. Just has the right amount of space to park yourself into comfort. Worth the pennies you spend. Rooms are clean and well kept. Suraj the caretaker really makes sure you are comfortable!! Kudos to the owners for the upkeep of the property and the accommodation

A quite brilliant hotel located right in the heart of Goa’c capital. Comptable rooms, great staff, perfect location.||I stayed for three nights. No issues at all the whole stay. ||Bed was comfortable. AC in room excellent. Shower had good hot water and good pressure.

Fabulous place. Very nice staff, especially, Ashpak Shaik. Located at the famous Fontainhas, Goa. Nice eateries nearby. Walkable distance to Mandovi river cruise. Even though the parking was road side, as it was a one way lane, there wasn't any problem. Overall, enjoyed our stay very much.

This is a strange place. It seems that in around 2017, somebody restored this old place with care. The advertised pictures seem to date from then. Since then, it has obviously not been cared for. It is generally grubby; the rooms show dirt on the curtains, and evidence of an incredibly sloppy painting and grouting job. The room we were given was not clean (filth under the bed and in the corners); it was on the ground floor with a flimsy set of doors opening directly into the breakfast area. A large party of other guests was constantly talking loudly in the breakfast area from 7am and quite late at night. There is next to no sound insulation. The room was dank. The mattress sloped inwards and was uncomfortable. Breakfast consists of sliced and tasteless white bread (kept frozen and defrosted, which one can toast and have with insanitary looking butter and jam) egg and a serving of watermelon. All in all, for the rupee equivalent of almost 200 euros a night, this is quite close to being a scam. Avoid.
