Hotel Sea Face Kovalam

The location where the hotel is situated is great. The rooms have got a great beach view. There is a swimming pool on the back side of the resort, just before the beach. There are plenty of restaurants and bars at a walking distance. The location and the ambiance makes the stay very pleasant. The rooms can be improved though! We had a problem with the AC, but the staff was accommodating and offered us to shift to the neighbouring room.

We stayed here for a night with a group of 11. Design of the rooms were good. However, the hygiene part of the hotel was a big zero. Unclean bedsheets and unclean glasses were used in the rooms. Location wise it is a good property. If you are looking for a clean room, this is not what you should book. Restaurant food is good. Service is slow. Again, tables and surrounding areas were very unclean. Would not recommend to my fellow travellers.

I would say location wise it's the best resort at Kovalam Beach with an affordable price range. It's situated just on the beach side, and you can get sea view from the hotel open lobby only and also it has many sea view rooms with balcony from where you can get a marvelous view of the sea. It's rooms are also very clean and spacious. No complaints about rooms. But there are some problems regarding the room service. First of all, there are no telephones inside the rooms to contact the reception and room service. They give a mobile number and we have to call there for anything required, which is not expected at such a good quality resort. Additionally, the staffs take too much time to respond to any issues in the rooms. Except the room service, the hotel is almost perfect and If they fix this service issue, then this resort has a huge potential to grow in future.

(TL; DR) Pros: Okay decor. Large, spacious room. Nice sized balcony with chair. Plenty of chairs in the room, including separate desk and chair; and, a vanity with cushion stool. Several, gorgeous stone top furniture pieces. Plenty of closet space. Plenty of toiletries. Clean, fluffy towels. Working mini fridge. Great AC and fan. Plenty of warm, quality lights; including desk and reading lamps. Plenty of international sockets near the bed and desk. Nice TV set up. My room didn't smell in general. Bottled drinking water is provided as well as wrapped, clean drinking glasses. The hotel is right on the beach! The distance between the edge of the property and the waves is maybe 5 steps. There's a wide open pool area and poolside dining area. The sunset view from this area is outstanding. Oh, and the pool itself was pristine! I wasn't too sure about the restaurant food upon arrival but the food was ok. Some things were unavailable but I was given acceptable alternatives. The menu is a nice size. Almost no Western food, if that's what you're looking for. Their food is still ok. I had no unwelcomed surprises. There are other places to eat and hotels in the area, south wards, towards the light house. And those other places seem to be in the same general condition. No one's eating at most of these places which is a bad side. There's swimming further north, up the beach. No ATMs in the area that I saw but there's a money changer not far from the pool area. Best part about this hotel is the head staff. Exceedingly courteous and welcoming. Cons: Hallways have the odor of garbage. Mattresses sitting in the halls, caked up with dust. Some staff hanging out on stairs, eating and shouting on the phone. Upon arrival the building looks to be in a sad state. Like it changed owners many many times and random things (glass panels on the staircase for example) weren't replaced. In the room there were random and frequent stains on the walls, especially in the bathroom. Splash stains on the (bright) furniture. Dust on every surface. Especially in the corners surface tops and backs of chair cushions. Bathroom mirror and glass shower walls completely covered with spots and streaks. Bathroom smelled of cigarettes. Used soap already in the shower. Dirty floor mat. Smears and finger prints all over the faucets and chrome surfaces. I NEVER used the shower here. I couldn't... Didn't see a hair dryer or water kettle. No outside food allowed. It's overpriced because of all the cons but you have to weigh that against the proximity to the beach and the nice scenery. --Summary-- It actually bothers me that I have to put so many negatives about this hotel because the head staff are so welcoming and kind. The manager checked on me a few times to make sure I knew where to eat and get me set up with the WiFi. And when I let him know about the state of the room on check out, he was genuinely surprised and annoyed. Had a talk with the head of housekeeping on the side. Seems that the latter had been not slacking. Shame 'cause again I did like a few of the staff I met. They seemed proud of their business. Despite the staff and the wonderful natural area, I can't recommend this place.

Hotel Sea Face – Overall Rating: ★★☆☆☆ Rooms are clean, comfortable, and well-maintained (★★★★☆), but the food quality is below average and overpriced—definitely not value for money. The location is a big plus, situated right in front of Kovalam Beach (★★★★☆), offering easy access and great views. However, the staff seem inexperienced, and overall, the stay doesn’t quite justify the price. They are selling water bottle at double price

Well placed on the Kovalam beach. The place is not well kept. U will be disappointed if u book the place based on the photos. It is a property that needs a refresh fast. The desk was helpful and cordial and the service was good

I have been visiting Hotel Seaface for almost 20 years and I can't imagine staying anywhere else when in Kovalam. It is a good 3 star hotel set right on the seafront at Kovalam. The rooms are set over two floors with the upper floor rooms more modern than the ground floor. In spite of this, I always request a ground floor room as they are a good size and have a terrace which opens right onto the pool. The hotel setting is perfect. There is a new management team in place and they have made lots of improvements recently inside and out - with more to come. My room has been freshly painted, the bed was extremely comfortable with fresh white sheets and the daily room cleaning service is very good. Although the bathrooms are in need of an update, they come with toiletries and I always had plenty of hot water when I needed it. The room has a kettle with tea and coffee supplies, effective air conditioning and a good fan. There are plenty of lights and power points too. There is an outdoor terrace restaurant and a covered area where breakfast is served. I have found all of the staff to be friendly and helpful from the manager through the reception, restaurant and cleaning staff. The Hotel Seaface remains my first choice in Kovalam after this latest visit.

Staff Behaviour was good. The pool os explorable during rough seas seasons. Quality of food is good but the restaurant was very ugly as same as washroom and rooms. Rooms need refurbishment along with washrooms.
