Hotel Samudra Tara

I recently booked a room directly from the reception for a three-day stay, and at the time of booking, I was assured that the TV was working. However, after making the full payment, I was informed that there was a cable issue. From conversations in Malayalam, I understood that the real reason was that the recharge had not been done due to the off-season, which was quite disappointing. That being said, I must appreciate the hotel's excellent location, just 50 meters from Kovalam Beach and the Lighthouse. The room and bathroom were clean possibly newly rennovated, and the spacious balcony was a great addition. However, I noticed that almirahs were missing in the second-floor rooms, which could be an inconvenience for guests. No intercom services so you need to walk two floor down every time if you need any help and service from reception.

Stayed at Samdra Tara for 4 nights with Parents....rooms are spacious and it is 100 metres away from sea beach. Hotel has excellent service and good rooms with reasonable tariff. In the peak season we payed Rs. 850 for the room and Rs. 350 for extra bed..they arrange local trips and also a Kerala ayurvedic treatment is available at the hotel.||||It more like home stay..so if you are looking for calm place with home food go for it. ||||However the hotel dont have any sea facing room and intercom facility not available. But these minor things can be overlooked ..one will enjoy their stay with family and frnds there

I don't know much about the hotel but don't go there for a massage. They have fancy things written on their rate list but regardless of that they are going to give you a normal oil massage which you can even get on urban clap. Nothing special feeling as seen in the pics or as heard of a relaxing Kerala massage. And if you are still visiting do bargain before you fall for their price or atleast check the rate chart. Sometimes they even quote more than the printed amount.

is located right next to the ocean and it takes you about 3-5 mins to get to all the restaurants and cafes by the seaside. Sea food is amazing and not expensive. If you walk out of the gate and instead of turning left, turn right, you can go down the village and find there shops and markets. If you want cheap traditional food - it is the place for you to go. Coconut trees surround the inn. And you can see the ocean from the upper floor. It is really clean and nice there.|To get there you need to get first to Trivandrum train station and then hire a cab. It should cost you around 200-250Rs for the whole cab. You could try rickshaw - probably around 100 but there were 4 of us so we just took a cab. Just tell them Kovalam beach, Light House. They will take you there. |Overall a great experience

I booked room for my visit to Kerala with my family for 3 nights, after looking hotels reviews on Trip advisor. Before booking response of hotel was prompt, however after reaching hotel everything changed drastically. Manager Jipson was nowhere to found and even not responding to our phones. Hotel and room were stinking; toilets were in most terrible conditions. Care taker was rude enough and was not worried at all 'says if you do not like go away'.

Budget rooms, clean but not very posh, huge terraces and balconies, airy and very near to the beach & lighthouse. Kovalam beach is at walkable distance too.

Situated close to the vizhinjam light house... The rooms cannot be rated as 5 star but it's worth for the penny you are paying for.. Hotel staff is friendly and is also an helping hand in any need... As it's close to the vizhinjam beach the cool breeze of the sea can be enjoyed anytime
