We stayed here for two nights to use as a base to go walking to Top Station above Munnar. The location is stunning, high up in the hills with fabulous views across a wide valley. From our room we looked down onto the trees and the birds in them - a great vantage point! We watched a family of white bellied treepies in the trees right below us, a real treat. We stayed in one of the annex rooms, a five minute walk down some steep wooden steps from the main building where the food is served. The room itself was a bit careworn, one of the doors out to the small lawn did not shut properly, and as is the case with many homestays, the mattresses are very firm indeed. Two young men seemed to be running the place while we were there, very pleasant and helpful both but they did seem to be just caretaking it. (Our driver told us that the current owners are trying to sell it). The food was good. We had bought along our own beer, others had brought wine. Although a good forty minute drive to Munnar it was a scenic drive and a good secluded base to be.

We just loved our stay here, wish we could have stayed more than one night! Our room was perfect, amazing views and comfortable bed. We walked along the road and visited with the local children who were so excited to see us. Then we lounged outside with a drink and snacks provided by the extremely friendly staff until sunset. Candlelight dinner followed. Great romantic honeymoon spot!||Amazing food, service and overall incredible stay!!!

This place looks lovely but the reality is that while it is clean, spacious and has great views, there is nothing to do and it is a good 30 minutes drive from Munnar or anywhere else. We had expected to have been met and greeted by the owner - who never turned up. Michael, the young man, who looked after us was a delight though. Without him, our two days (we shortened our stay by a day and night) would have been a disaster. He arranged a trip for us and did his best to make us feel welcomed. Casa del Fauno has potential but until it is properly managed and with an owner/ manager on site, you would be best advised to look elsewhere.

We had two nights here en route from Kumilly to Cochin. This is a lovely spot with glorious views over the valley. It is the perfect place to unwind – you can go for a walk or just sit on the balcony and read.||||We had a large room in the main bungalow, which was very comfortable, although the shower needed maintenance. ||||The staff were lovely, albeit a little disorganised and we thoroughly enjoyed all our meals. ||||Beer and wine was available, but they hold very limited stocks - on our first night we drank the only bottle of wine on the premises. They also don’t take credit cards, so make sure you have cash with you to pay your bill at the end of your stay.

Fabulous place for rest and relaxation. It is remote and there is nothing to do but that is it's charm. If you want activities and action then go nearer Munnar which is hectic and busy. We had a tour by Micheal of the cardamom plantation and workers village and met the families. He was very knowledgable of every plant, bird and animal on route and we learnt a lot. Excellent place for bird watchers. The food was the best we have had so far - excellent breakfast (fruit juices, toast, choice of eggs etc) Keralan rice lunch and 3 course supper - we stayed 2 days and had different each day and all excellently cooked and not too spicy. Highly recommend this as a restful stopover to walking/trekking in the area.

The hotel was advertised as being close to Munnar, but was nearly half an hour's drive away. In fact we had trouble finding it as there was no sign from the road. It has certainly seen better days and was sorely in need of repair - for example the French doors to our outside veranda didn't shut properly. The final straw was when a powercut occurred (common in the monsoon season), but there was no backup generator, so we were plunged into darkness. Luckily we were able to get in touch with our travel agent to arrange a transfer to another hotel. Having said all this, it was evident that the hotel was about to be closed for the season and we were probably the last guests, so let's hope it will re-open in an improved state next year!
