NillI recently stayed at Hope Hostel (Helipad) in Varkala and had a wonderful experience. The location near the Helipad is fantastic, offering easy access to both the South and North cliffs. The rooms are clean, and the basic amenities are sufficient for a comfortable stay. There are plenty of open spaces to chill and enjoy the surroundings. The friendly staff really enhances the atmosphere. Plus, the hostel offers various recreational activities, including table tennis, cards, guitar, books, and badminton. From safety point of view, its location makes it safe for all types of travellers. Overall, it’s a great place to relax and meet fellow travelers.

NillI've stayed at many hostels in India but never had the weird experience I had at Hope Hostels. I had booked a couple of beds for me and my friend. When we checked in at the hostel, we were told to stay in different dorms because apparently, all the beds had been taken by other travelers who came before. In other words, there is no availability of two beds in any dorm. When I cross-questioned, they kept saying the same thing again and again. When you book beds for multiple people in a hostel, the least you expect any administration to do is block beds in the same dorm. But no, the staff here seem to think that's an alien concept. Or worst case, if their policy was different, it should have been mentioned on their hostel listing. As if this wasn't enough, when I returned to my dorm at night, I saw that someone had kept their bags on my bed. And my bags were shifted to another bed. When I told this at the reception, the staff gave me some weird explanation again which made no logical sense, and told me to shift to another bed nonchalantly. At this point, I lost it! I was going to create a scene but kept my temper. It seems the staff at Hope Hostels have no idea how a basic thing like bed allocation or customer experience works. I wonder how they have gathered so many positive reviews so far! Anyway, I'm never coming back to this hostel again as they spoiled my stay. If you're someone like me who values the experience of staying at a hostel, I recommend looking elsewhere. There's no hope at Hope for sure!

NillLocation is spot on. We can go to the beach by just getting up. The vibe is great. I met a lot of amazing folks there. Made lot of memories to carry with me. Smitha is a great host. She and Joseph arranges one or another event/game at night. Would definitely recommend.

NillHope is a great place to stay. Easy access. The hostel is very clean and well-maintained. Joseph, the host, and the other guests are awesome and friendly. They’ll give you great tips on where to go and what to do. Also, a special shoutout to their dogs, Nico and Ruby—they’re super cute and make the place feel even more welcoming.

NillIt was one of the best hostels I've been to. It had a great vibe and Nishanth has been a great host and he took all of us around and also hung out with us the entire day. It's a great place to watch sunsets because it is literally on the beach and there was a cute dog to hang out with even if there are no people around. I'd 10/10 suggest this hostel for backpackers or basically anyone who like to socialize ❤️

NillWe booked the sea view room. The stay was calm and relaxing. The highlight is the prime location. The host was really sweet and mature. The room was somewhat old but clean and well kept. There is a lot of space for activities and common space to chill. The common kitchen was good. This is a nice place for backpackers who want a longer stay. Very peaceful and can listen to the sound of the ocean. The funny part was that there was no view in the sea view room bcz of the trees. They should stop charging the premium for the view. Also we could feel the springs from the mattress. Also since it's mainly a hostel, there are no other facilities that typical hotels would have for this price. But all in all a chill place.

NillWell apart from the location nothing else actually worked here . The hygeine was really really bad ,rooms were not cleaned enough .The washroom was broken so we were using another rooms washroom .the size of the washroom was tiny without any geyser Secondly the common area was dirty, filled with sand and mud and linen were smelly and sandy . They have allowed two pets (hostels) kudos to that but then they need to maintain cleanliness around. Hire few more staff esp for cleaning . The rooms had dirty linen too . So my expectations were quite high but felt let down with this .
