A calm, serene and safe space for girls looking for an offbeat trip in Varkala. Clean hostel, books to read, with even a beautiful laundry room and bathrooms for freshening up coming from the beach. Love the coastal decor of the place with deck view on top. The hostel’s location allows a walkable distance to the north cliff. Their island and backwaters trip package was one of the best experiences ever. Aparna took care of us and recommended all the amazing spots and activities in Varkala during the stay. We went during monsoon so surfing was unavailable but will definitely visit again to experience it too!

During my remote work trip, I had to find a quiet, safe, and seaside place to stay; if these conditions weren't met, I had to move quickly as there is no other choice. Happily I found the perfect location at Varkala's House of Surf and didn't even had a second thought to message the host for booking the stay for one week. The hostel was only a short walk from the beach, in a quiet, secure neighborhood. I could enjoy the walk to the beach and waves every day, both before and after work, and still feel comfortable traveling alone as a female without the usual crowds. My needs were taken care of and given careful consideration by the hosts who later become good friends. I appreciate Aparna, the one behind the house of surf, for designing such a wonderful stay that was especially designed for female tourists seeking a slow living experience.This would be a go to place for me anytime i visit varkala.

I had an amazing stay at House of Surf Hostel! From the moment I arrived, the welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff made me feel right at home. The facilities are excellent, especially for surfers—easy access to great waves and top-notch surf equipment. The hostel is impeccably clean and well-organized, with comfortable beds and a cozy common area that’s perfect for meeting fellow travelers. The staff went above and beyond, offering great local tips and making sure I had everything I needed. Plus, the value for money is unbeatable. If you’re a surfer or just looking for a laid-back, social environment, House of Surf is the place to be. Highly recommended!

Beautiful and warm staff. Great to meet fellow female travelers! Loved my stay here and would definitely return again. The hostel itself felt clean and organized and safe. The ocean is only a few mins away and you can hear the sounds of the waves from your room! it was a Bliss!!!

One of the best place to stay in varkala for female travellers.The whole vibe around the place is so calm and cool.The space is beautifully designed and well maintained.The location is great too-super close to odayam beach ,very peaceful &quiet place.The host was vere friendly and was very helpful. Had a very clean, cozy, fun, and comfortable stay here for 3 nights. Manager helped me book transportation, offered activities and workshops, and volunteers took me to fun places! Felt very safe and at ease. Beautiful large rooftap deck with a sea view and they have a nice pool and yoga mats. I will be back one day!
