OYO 538 Causway Hotel

I had a great time staying at the Causeway Hotel in Colaba. A friend of mine had recommended me to stay here and it was better than described. The rooms are neat and clean. The service is really top notch, with courteous staff paying good attention to guests. The location is one of the best one can get in Bombay. The hotel is situated just few meters away from Gateway of India, the Queen's necklace and major shopping areas in South Bombay. The only small downside was the absence of a small cupboard or clothes hangers, so I had no place to store my clothes.

Really edgy and cool location. Between a hostel and hotel level. Could be a little cleaner. Good for backpackers, not suitable for romance or families. Pick a room without windows for less background noise if this is what you want!

Not the best location, too busy, too many touts, too many people trying to sell you stuff and too many drug dealers in the area. In a positive note, the room was clean and good value. But staff are always in your face, no room to get away from it all. If you like hectic locations, then this is good value. If you're looking for peace and quiet avoid this location.

The rooms are okay. Room service is not good. And most important thing to notice they don't accept any type of cards. I just saw a foreigner having fight with receptionist for not accepting cards, as he was travelling with credit cards. I too had to find an ATM to pay the bill.

I have the feeling that the bedsheets weren't fresh and they made a problem as my friend wanted to visit my room for 5 minutes and refresh. They also kept my passport as a deposit and didn't want me to pay in the beginning. Also, don't leave any valuables in the room while you're out. I am sure they are checking and they have also written a rule that they are not responsible if something is missing. Wifi, AC and hot water were good!

Very well maintained rooms and toilets and clean linen. The service was also very warm and efficient. They have an elevator to their three floors albeit after a short flight of stairs to about half a floor from the ground level.

Small, functional hotel near main tourist area. Lots of street stalls right outside the door. Some rooms have no natural light but are modern and done out a bit like a Travelodge. No bar or restaurant so you need to make plans for breakfast- McDonald's is a couple of hundred metres away - turn right out of the door and follow the main road. Recommended for a couple of nights, maybe 3 at most..

Very good value for money. Excellent location. Leopold cafe at downstairs. Clean rooms, good airconditioning, comfortable bed. Nice place to stay in the city centre of Mumbai. Good servoce and cheap price.
