Capital O 70523 Dho-tapu Guest House

Dho Tapu Guest house is a nice little “boutique” kind of guest house with just 9 rooms, and you get a very homely, cozy atmosphere. It is on the first floor of a shopping centre, but surprisingly nice and quiet. We were recommended this guest house by a colleague who is local native of Gangtok, who did the reservations. We were skeptical about the place first, but were certainly glad after checking in. The rooms are LARGE clean and done up simply but tastefully, fresh clean sheets and towels, nice large clean bathroom, fresh flowers in the room, TV, DVD player.. the works. Some rooms have a nice balcony with Mountain view. The place has a terrace with great Mountain View where breakfast is served. There was no menu.. so one can order what one wants and given some time they will manage. We had nice simple breakfast (the standard breakfast that is available if you don’t pre order) comprising of cereals, juice, tea/coffee, porridge, toast, fruits (eggs/ omlette was also available). No room service though, but helpful though minimal staff. They had a huge collection of DVDs (complimentary for the guests) and we did enjoy watching some of them in our room. We did use their recommend tours and transport arrangements, which were nice as well. The place is nice and cozy and would suggest checking this place out while in Gangtok.

Didn't know much about the place when I booked it on our honeymoon trip; stayzilla.com suggested this place. Turned out to be a very pleasant experience. ||||The guest house is on the main highway, a few miles down from the main City; the noise from the traffic wasn't intrusive at all despite the proximity. Getting around Gangtok - going to MG Marg and other areas in Gangtok - and returning to Dho Tapu was very easy with a lot of taxis plying on the highway on a very frequent basis. ||||The rooms were very clean; the staff were very helpful; they handled our laundry with care.||||The food was excellent; breakfast was included in our package - and we feasted on the freshly made chapathis, omlettes, etc!||||One of the owners of this place also owns the SNOD petrol pump next door; he was very friendly when we met him at breakfast, and later gave us a ride in his car to one of the tourist places since it was on his way! ||||We stayed for 2 nights; overall a very pleasant experience.

To start I should confront in beginning itself that I am very lazy to type a review or rather you can say that I am too busy to get some time out to do this. However I couldn’t resist myself to write something about DhoTapu and my dear Friend Jeevan and his support Staff. At start I was myself not sure whether I am going to stay at this hotel, however I will be honest and confess that I was bit tired initially to search for another Hotel in Gangtok. We took a Cab from NJP to Gangtok, and as per my telephonic discussion with Jeevan got down at Dho-Tapu. At first the room I got was not so impressive, this made me think to move out. However to our surprise Mr. Jeevan offered us the hotel’s best room with good location we were greeted with hot cup of coffee. ||||The Guest house offered us the indemnity, secrecy and hospitality. Not to mention great facilities and great service! The location is perfect. Reasonably close to the MG Road and very near to the Shopping places. The service is excellent and surprisingly the staff made it a point to greet by love and Respect- every time. At time of our Check-out there manager in charge Jeevan went that extra mile by offering us complimentary Tea and Breakfast that means he just let the food bill go ... Even the support staff Sameer was smart and courteous. The rooms were big, and do have the facilities required.. Hot water, clean and safe bathroom with bathtubs.||||Dho Tapu allows their emigrating love birds( Guests) to sew their nests. Thus holiday or a vacation at Gangtok means stay at Dho-Tapu which not only frames yours passionate dreams but also reflects an eternal charm. Flung away to the quintessential hill station in India and beyond the horizon one taken into custody the incredible vicinity of the mighty Kanchenjunga. Stay up at Dho Tapu and your pleasant stay makes you to feel on top of the world.||||I like the personal touch and the facilities and will definitely be staying in this hotel on the next trip as well. For me my trip to Gangtok and Dho Tapu was a rose-cheeked paradise. ||||Special Thanks to Jeevan, his support and his hospitality. ||You will remain my Friend forever.||||Thanks to Sameer and Kailash( Cab-Owner) for all their help and support.

Was a regular here for 3 years during my business trips. Quaint little place, but well maintained. Very courteous and helpful staff. Nice view as its perched on edge of a valley. Although not in main market area, it is closer to Taxi stand and reaching main markets take 5-10mins by frequently running taxis. Very convenient. Also has couple of good restaurants right next to it. ||||Will highly recommend it.Lesser known but nothing less. Not expensive, but overall beats lots of prime hotels.

Hospitality of owners earns plus 100 points (they were too good to talk about... Never let me feel like I'm a guest). . I was welcomed like another family member. The place isn't just any ordinary guest house, once you decide to move in you will find yourself in a total makeover spot. Piercing, haircut and body spa are just a few names that you can try. . It is located on a walking distance from Taxi stand that comes from Darjeeling/WB just aside a petrol pump near gurudwara. . Food and stay are available at reasonable prices. Trust me, ive had more food at hotel than trying nukkad gali outdoor outfits. . The owner himself arranged everything from tours, travels, permits and helped us planning other things to try at Gangtok with lots of grace and happiness. . The place has historic significance ~ you will realize after getting inside..!! If you are planning to stay at Gangtok, i recommend try them...! . I'm a happy customer from Agra.

I had booked suite room accommodation in this guest house for 5 days. 14 to 16 May'13 and again from 21 to 22 May'13. I stayed with my wife and daughter. The quality of rooms were different in 14 to 16 from 21 to 22. The room given on 21 and 22 were much better. The quality of accommodation was excellent. These have spacious bathrooms with bathtubs and geyser. However, this guest house is 3 km away from the Centre of Guest House i.e M G Marg. The better room had small rats. Both the rooms had smelly carpet.

this is quite good cheap luxurious rooms with bath tub. we stayed one night only. if you are selecting this hotel for bath tub then please check with management if they can manage to fill bathtub with hot water. as water is scare resources in darjeeling/Gangtok.

WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE.... I would like to share my experience with you all. I booked this guest house in cleartrip from 24th to 27th May 2018 in pre payment mode. When I called the hotel before one hour of reaching Gangtok I was told they are unaware of the booking. The receptionist didnt even know that hotel was liasoned with cleartrip. Somehow they managed to give me a so called best room. Room was dim lit with old furniture and a 1990 model TV. Next day when I came back from sight seeing I was amazed to see that room was not cleaned at all. Horrible experience was the last night of the stay when power went off midnight and i couldn't tind any one from the hotel to help me. Somehow me with my family managed to spend three nights as we had already paid. ALL THOSE THINGS MENTIONED ABOUT THIS GUEST HOUSE IN INTERNET IS PURELY FALSE. REQUEST EVERYONE NOT TO VISIT THIS GUEST HOUSE AT ALL...
