Hotel Sonar Tori

We stayed 4 days (18.10.2024 to 21.10.2024) in this Sonar Tari Hotel @ 3,000/- per day (1 double bed & 1 single bed). It is very close to Deorali taxi stand or Ropeway, but M.G. Marg is 1 km. from here. Taxi takes 25/- per head to go from this Hotel. Everyone's behavior and food is very good. Room & bathroom was cleaned. TV & Geyser was running condition. I however got Cockroach "Arshola" in my room. This hotel is not 3 stars. The outside view (Mountain or Valley) cannot be seen through the window. This Hotel is not bad for old age persons and kids. Behavior of all the staff are very polite and friendly. Whenever you want to go for side scenes then please verify the rate of Vehicle. There is no parking facilities for own or rented vehicles.

Very good view room and delicious food. Service is also great. It's 10 mins away from MG Marg.

Staffs are not cooperative. Recently stayed there. At 8.20 PM I asked for arrangement of dinner for us but declined my request because of not informing earlier though they were prepare food for other guests. Raining cats and dogs that evening I searched for dinner with in rain. After asking for plates they gave fiber plates upper layer of which cracked. when I returned the same they neither even asked the cause of returning nor replace. Not suitable for family stay.

Pros : only pro is staffs are Bengali speaking and food is okish. Cons: 1.Located far away from M.G.Marg. You have to spend ₹200+ 200 (up+ down) to visit M.G. Marg. 2. View from room : Only road and walls. 3. Staff behaviour: Worst. One of them was out and out rude from the first day. 4. No lift. No one to carry luggage. You have to climb up the stairs with your luggage. 5. Cisterns were broken in one for the rooms, no shower in the other room. 6. They do not clean the room properly before having the guests. Only pour phenyl water and adjust the bedsheets. Commodes were dirty. 7. Some rooms were too small to even open the luggage. Overall, does not worth the price they are charging. I think, they are able to run the business only because of their Bengali food and Bengali speaking staffs.

Location is quite far from gangtok m g marg. U need to add ur 200+200 taxi fare to commute from m g marg. One of service staff is rude. Only pro is staffs are bengali speaking Food options are very limited. Deluxe rooms are small,cistern broken,waterlogged in toilet..only view outside is concrete wall.not worth the price at all.

Very good hotel and friendly staff. They also serve tasty Bengali food. The location is nice, it can also be seen from the ropeway, it's the part of the Gangtok City which you see in all the pictures. The main Street, that's seen from the ropeway. One can reach MG Marg within 2 mins by cab at 20rs per person

We stayed in this hotel last month but our experience was really bad . Firstly the comod flush was not working after requesting they changed the room. After day one there were regularly electricity and water problems. The manager's behaviour was the worst. My 12 months was banging on the glass window and he thought he could break it with his tiny hand. He was always talking rudely.They had issues with our travel agent i don't know that might be one of the reasons for their rude behaviour. After day 2 his behaviour was better. About the room , it was small . The location is good though. Gangtok ropeway is only 5 minutes walking distance from the hotel. About the food quality I personally didn't find it good. You will get shared taxi from the hotel also.
