The Other Side

I recently had the pleasure of staying at "The Other Side," a charming homestay located on the hill opposite Gangtok. The surroundings were breathtaking, with a beautiful, earthy touch that provided a serene escape from the bustle of the city. Our hosts, Karma and Sangay, were incredibly welcoming and creative. Their old-time charm is reflected in the homestay's decor, which features locally made handicraft items, lamps, and stunning pottery work produced in their on-site studio. This studio is a testament to their creativity and adds a unique touch to the stay, allowing guests to appreciate and even purchase beautiful, handcrafted home decor. On the evening of our arrival, Karma and Sangay had friends over and graciously invited us to join them. The conversation was delightful, and it was a pleasure to meet and interact with such interesting people. It felt more like visiting old friends than staying in a commercial establishment. One of the highlights for my family was that our hosts’ son was the same age as my son. The two boys quickly became friends, which added a special touch to our visit and allowed our son to have a wonderful companion throughout our stay. Additionally, the care taken by Suraj, the caretaker, was exceptional. He was sweet, innocent, and always ready to meet our needs, ensuring we felt welcomed and comfortable throughout our stay. Overall, "The Other Side" is a perfect blend of old-world charm and modern creativity, set in a beautiful location. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a warm, hospitable, and unique homestay experience in Gangtok.

Awesome. No words to explain!!! The owner of this place, Karma Tenrab is a great artist. He has meticulously crafted this place so that you can relax and immerse yourself in the tranquility of Gangtok. A calm, quite and laid back cove for those who are looking to escape the fast paced city life. When it rains, it is even more serene and beautiful. Milan, is an expert cook. He will prepare anything you want. And they have wifi too!!!

Complete off beat place for people wanting to run away from the concrete jungle life. The studio is hand made by my artist friend karma. Great place to be with friends. The perfect home stay option one can ask for.
