“Worst experience ever! Dirty room, unhygienic floor, rude staff, and the so-called AC room is a joke – the AC doesn’t even work, looks like it’s from the 19th century! Totally waste of money. Please don’t book this hotel!”

Hellow Viewer's! Hotel is good to go with a bit higher price because I've happened check many hotels 2-3, when I check the room I was impressed because the room I paid is 1000₹ +GST which is totally legal in India. You will have to pay 12% of above 999 bill. Staff's are helpful and never bother you for the tip. But I paid them at the checkout time. Staff's are very gentle and nice. Room is very big as per the price and very neat and clean. There are two receptionist as per the shift. I aware you to stay away from the night receptionist, he is bit rude and don't give you a proper service. Location is good. Thanks, Md Zeeshan

Lucknow is my birthplace and so I never needed any hotel to stay in Lucknow. But this time I wanted to try 1 hotel during my 14 hours stay in Lucknow.||||So I searched manually for Hotels near Charbagh Railway Station. I found many small hotels with very high rates. Among them was this Mayur Hotel.||||I chose this because It had a lift and an awesome AC in my room. Most of the hotels didn't have lift. I must say that the entrance of this hotel is very very small. And considering the space, lift is also very tiny.||||Manager at reception is very straight forward and will not entertain if you try to bargain with him. He will not show the room unless you agree to not bargain. I took a double bed room which costs me INR 980. I stayed with my wife and 2 kids for 12 hours there.||||Room ambience was not good. Water quality was bad. Sand comes with water. TV unit was very old. Bed-sheets were torn. Pillow covers were not very clean. Do not drink water given by the hotel. Buy your own packaged water.||||No ventilation. AC was good. Has backup generator. Corridor to room was extremely small. Not good for people with heavy luggage.||||I didn't tried meals and lunch of this hotel, so can't comment. Almost all kinds of shops are there nearby.

We stayed here for two nights as we passed through Lucknow to Varanasi in March 2014 and our preferred options were already booked out. The staff were reasonably friendly and helpful enough, but didn't go out of their way. The rooms are quite spacious, but not particularly clean, and very noisy. Paid 800INR (approx) for a double which is a bit pricey for what you're getting here - especially considering the lack of amenities (no hot water, no wifi, Indian style toilets). Location right next to the train station is very handy though! Fine for a quick one nighter or if you're travelling rough, but probably better value elsewhere if you're organised and can pre-book.

Room was relatively clean. Our room had indian style toilet and bathroom was a bit smelly. Very powerful air con which could only be set on the lowest temperature therefore the room was freezing! It was fine for a 1 night short stay in between trains but I wouldn't recommend staying for longer. It is at a busy crossroads which is great for getting a rickshaw and there was a street food market area just up the road which was busy with good food.

They are very rude with the customer. They don't even provide RO water for drinking, they are giving dirty tap water. One need to purchase a bottle for drinking water. Rooms are not properly clean even pillow and bedsheets are also not clean. There charges are high and service is zero.

The hotel is very easy to find from the train station, don't bother getting an auto or cycle rickshaw, it's a four minute walk. ||||The hotel manager was pretty rude and unhelpful when I arrived but improved slightly. ||||When I was here the hotel seemed to behaving a refurbishment and hence was pretty much a building site, complete with the nose you get on one. The bed was AWFUL, didn't have a mattress and I was basically sleeping on wood. The room had a huge ventilation fan which made it cold at night time and very noisy. The bathroom was lie, no hot water and I may have just contracted hepatitis using it. This place is a dump. ||||If this is one of the best in the lonely planet I hate to think what the rest are like. Avoid at all costs.
