Hilson Hotel

The behavior of the hotel owner is very bad. When I went for checking, he took my passport and gave it after an hour but I told him that I need the passport soon, I'm going to see a doctor. Then when I asked him for my passport, he treated me very badly and abused me. That's why I'm in such a hurry. After that I talked to him and paid the hotel rent and he did not give me the receipt but told me that if I want to get the receipt I have to pay GST separately at 18% and I had an argument with him. In one word, the hotel is very bad, I would recommend not to stay here.

I have stayed at many different hotels around the New Market and Sudder street areas. My favourite is Hilson Hotel. Simple but clean and well maintained rooms. Quiet considering the business of the area, and the staff are trustworthy and reliable. My first stay was back in 2015, and I have stayed twice already in 2024. I am sure I will return when I am next in Kolkata.

A very friendly budget hotel good for backpackers or families travelling with a low budget. The best part is their staff. I went there when I was 4 years old and I still visit them everytime I am in Kolkata even though I haven't stayed there ever since. I'm 20 years old now. The staff and the owner are extremely welcoming and friendly not showing too much interest in getting money.

if you are a backpacker and want to spend some time in a real place in Calcutta India this is the place he doesn't get any better than the street location the area and the surrounding your near everything and far away from everything so if you want to immerse into reality of this town it doesn't get better than this place.||The front desk staff is one of the best ones I've ever seen in India it will help you without showing too much interest in getting some money out of the and that is not normal for us in our trip so far. They always help us to organize the pure teachings places to go and even get the right taxi drivers at the right price without demanding any payment whatsoever.||The rooms are okay is just to go and spend the night.

I know we are in Kolkata. But for the price (600 per couple) we had too many bed bugs and there was no WiFi and no AC (some cheaper hostels offer WiFi and AC) shower and toilet was a cultural exchange. It's not bad. It's just slightly overprice. Good location though.

yeah this is a good backpacks hotel in kolkata. not luxurious . very old colonial billding . but hotel very clean . located area . easy access everything. only walked distance victoral memory . New markets & park street area . so come every budged tourists.

A nice place to stay in new market area. Rooms are very clean, bed sheet are okay okay but the location is very good.

Good hotel at center place. Room rent is not high in comparison to other hotels. But you will not find fooding here. And they don't have hi-fi look.
