Mahua Kothi, A Taj Safari - Bandhavgarh National Park

Excellent service, a cook who will cook you food to your heart's desire (Thank you, Mr. Ramswaroop!), very attentive staff (Thank you, Mr Keshu, Mr Bhola, Mr. Munshi and lovely Ms. Kanchan), a very sweet front-office personnel and a wonderful naturalist team. The huts are great (they are semi-indian and partly African in construction, so the flavour overall is like a Safari in the jungle) and airy, in the monsoon at night when the bugs and insects come out, which can be easily dealt with with HIT spray. The room is very comfortable and has a village/bungalow atmosphere to it. The showers are very good (the pink bath salt in oil is dreamy on your skin), and the walk on raw earth is particularly enjoyable, surrounded by bamboo and bird calls. A very idyllic property in the heart of a Tiger reserve. ||Overall, I found the Mahua (The tree's name) Kothi by Taj to be a sprawling, multi-acre, well-wooded enclave (Kothi). It has a semi-plantation, semi-African safari feel to it and faces a sprawling wilderness adjacent to the Tiger reserve. That's a huge bonus. I loved the experience. Don't miss this place in the summer's heat, as the jungle's creatures flock to the watering holes to cool off, where the Tigers cool off their bodies lying partly submerged to ward off flies and cool their furry bodies.

I had visited Mahua Kothi along with my family last week. We had a wonderful experience. The mud house, natural jungle environment and occasional visit of deer in premises made the stay even special. Tiger siting at Bandhavgarh is very much expected and it did not disappoint us as well. We will cherish the serene beauty of jungle and melodious bird chirps forever.||Behavior of all staff was very amiable and personalized. Our arrival at even 1AM was welcomed by the team including the chef. Highly experienced Naturalist Raj Kishor ji made us aware about the flora and fauna of not only Bandhavgarh but whole India. The other naturalist 'Kartik' took us to the jungle safari, his knowledge on the subject was good and the way he accompanied my son for a bird watching tour was overwhelming. ||The Chef Ajit's skill in cooking was feather in the cap. The delicious food especially Chicken Baghelkhandi was awesome. ||We also liked the sustainable and environment friendly interior the rooms with no plastic use.||Altogether, it was wonderful experience that started at the time of booking the property and will last in our memories forever.

Absolute delight to have stayed here. One of the most hospitable staff I have been with at the Taj. Catered for all our needs. Safaris were great with our naturalist Raj, who was very very knowledgable about the wilderness. We did 10 safaris and saw sightings of a Tiger for nine safaris. From Brijesh the manager, to Raj, Munshi, Pankuj, Samar, Ajit, Keshu were abide delight to converse with. A bucket list of seeing the Tigers is ticked of now. An amazing experience I will have and endless memories created for a lifetime. Food and chefs very excellent always asked what we wanted to eat morning, lunch and evenings. Thank you all at Taj Mahua Kothi. Truly grateful for everything.

Hotel, staff, amenities,food everything was too notch. Staff of the hotel was very cooperative. Food was delicious. Atmosphere was serene. Basic amenities like washroom and other things are also of top quality. Overall it was very nice to be there. Enjoyed a lot.

A must stay in Bandhavgarh. Fantastic Hospitality. Such Jain friendly food. We had total 5 meals and 3 breakfast and didn’t repeat anything in Jain variety. Their team is very enthusiastic and welcoming. Had a great time with the Naturalist who was well averse with the Jungle and the flora fona. It was one of our best safari vacations !!!!

Had an incredible time at the Lodge. All the staff were extremely professional and attentive, they couldn't do enough to make our experience memorable. Our naturalist guide Kulshresth was extremely knowledgeable on all subjects and went out of his way to make it a holiday to remember.

Wonderful cottages, serene environment. Lot of peace and serenity. Very good fresh and yummy food. Warm environment. Courteous and caring staff . Packed breakfast for safari was perfect . Homemade muesli and marmalades were really yummy . A must visit Taj property

So many good things about this small resort. The rooms are nice and comfortable and the cleaning team great - even prepared a hot bath for our safari return.|The food is very good although you need to ask what is on the menu. The team serving you are if anything over keen with everyone who passes asking is you want more serving or more food.|The internal Taj safari was very expensive but very good. The internal naturalist was very knowledgeable and really worked hard to make our day special. His spotter that the park allocated did no spotting and spent his time on the phone but expected a big tip for his days work.|But the main reason for the low score is poor management. Other than arrival we never saw anybody ( hard in such a small resort) He demanded we pay up front for the Taj trip rather than put on the room and had people stood over us whilst dining to get payment. Also after a night that they had men working and welding all through the early hours and talking and banging he lied and said it was an elephant- which all the team knew had been there 1 week earlier!! His lack of skill in acknowledging his mistake to allow work to go on through the night is just unacceptable. I am sure he is the reason all staff seem a bit insecure rather than just being empowered to deliver great service.|The Taj has been the only good hotel and I think is complacent- with Oberoi open they will have to up their game
