Rooms are too spacious and location is just few steps away from the edge of North Cliff and Sea. Opt for rooms in 1st & 2nd floor, if you prefer sea view. However, lift is unavailable. Ground floor rooms are also good and spacious with patio. Service is good too. Especially Rahul & the night receptionist. Hot water will be an issue, if you plan to stay during monsoons/winter, as they rely on solar panels. However, they will provide hot water with buckets, whenever asked.

I really appreciate that the hotel is not only cosy and quiet, but also takes care of aesthetic. Around reception, at the corridor and in the rooms you will find lots of pretty items and photographs. Jute elements add warmth to the ambience, I loved it. Manager was very professional and customer oriented. Staff was helpful and attentive. Hotel is clean, I can really recommend this place. I've stayed in quite a few places in Varkala and this one is the best so far, keeping in mind price, quality and location. View from rooms is amazing, you can stare at the sea and relax at the balcony. Pressure in shower is great - having long hair that's what I pay attention for. We extended our stay as it was great. This is a great stay. Rahul and Murali Sir hosted us well. The views from the balcony is incredible. Given the stay was right on the North Cliff, there was comparatively lesser commotion around. However like every stay, please try to book in advance, since the price can be a bit high when booking in last minute. Overall, its a good stay with good room and service. One tiny thing though, the room didn’t have a TV, given the amazing views from balcony, I doubt anyone will need it.

We booked 3 rooms for 2 nights.. Excellent Host Superb rooms Amazing view Rahul and Murali were so helpful during the stay.. Enjoyed our stay here.. will definitely recommend.. best wishes to Palan team

I’ve been coming back to Palan Beach Resort for almost ten years now, whenever I’m in Varkala, and I think that already says a lot. It’s a small boutique hotel with such a warm, peaceful and welcoming atmosphere. A lot of what makes this place so special comes from the owner herself. She is an incredibly warm-hearted, kind and gracious person, and you can somehow feel her presence throughout the whole place. There is so much care in the little details, and a warmth that feels completely genuine. Palan doesn’t feel like a hotel that is simply being run. It feels like a place that is truly cared for. Everything is personal, relaxed and full of heart, and you feel welcome from the moment you arrive. Another thing I really love is seeing the same familiar faces among the staff year after year. There’s something really lovely about coming back and being welcomed by people you remember from previous stays. To me, that says a lot about the atmosphere behind the scenes as well. Everyone is kind, helpful and attentive, but never intrusive. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and always very clean. And of course, there’s the sea view… waking up and looking out at the ocean never gets old. It’s simply beautiful. I often travel alone, and as a woman I’ve always felt completely comfortable here. There’s a very peaceful and safe feeling about the place, and I’ve always felt well looked after while still having all the privacy and independence I want. After all these years, Palan has become much more than just a hotel for me. It’s one of those special places in Varkala that feels familiar the moment I return. A little bit like coming home. 🤍
