Hilltop Beach Resort

This was honestly the best place I found in Varkala. The stay and the massage were both reasonably priced, and the restaurant owner, Anupam, was extremely friendly and helpful. I even got scammed at another restaurant, and these guys actually helped me sort it out. Really appreciate their hospitality. Even the location is on cliff top so view as well as accessibility to beach was easy.

We arrived here after a long trip down from Cochin. The staff were friendly and immediately made us feel very welcome. Our room was basic and clean, but we were expecting more for what we paid. We were grateful to be able to drop our bags in a clean room, just a short distance from the glorious Varkala beach. If you like a hard bed you will not be disappointed (for me it was fine), if you want to flop down into a marshmallow mattress this might not be the place for you. Despite instruction from the friendly folk on reception, we never persuaded the shower to produce hot water. Hilltop has a good bar / restaurant area, the staff are extremely friendly and courteous, we returned there several times even when we were no longer residents. We stayed here 3 nights out of our 12 in Varkala, in terms of our actual room, Hilltop was a little overpriced and a little disappointing. However, the attitude and friendliness of the staff drew us back to use their restaurant several times.

Very bad massage experience – not worth the money Last week I went for a massage and paid 2000, but it was the worst massage experience I’ve ever had. There was no proper massage at all — they just applied oil and kept rubbing randomly. The therapist had no knowledge of body pressure points or massage techniques. It was a complete waste of money. Please don’t waste even a single penny on the massage here. The stay is fine, but the massage service is extremely poor. What made it worse is that when I complained, they didn’t even respond or take the feedback seriously. This was a very disappointing experience and they don’t even deserve one star.

The place is really good, the rooms are clean and it's located right in front of the beach. The view is so pretty and they have massages and ayurvedic consultation. It's for sure a great place to stay right in the center of Varkala. The most important thing is the staff are absolutely amazing, very nice warm people, they will help you with whatever you need.

Room was dirty, chair was broken, no water heater- the incharge told no waterheater facility will be given for non AC rooms, no proper extra cot(it was like a 2 inch cushion mat). Bathroom door was damaged and did not lock properly. Bad experience.
