The Oberoi Udaivilas, Udaipur

Wrapping up what has become a four part review of the Oberoi hotels in India (see Oberoi Delhi, Oberoi Agra, and Oberoi Jaipur), I would like to focus on the Oberoi Udaivilas specifically, and the city of Udaipur generally. On this last leg of our trip (which for transparency was a Luxury Escapes 12 day private tour of India) we were privelidged to stay at this amazing hotel complex. Nestled on the bank of one of Udaipurs lakes, the hotel sprawls over the hillside, with its massive and imaculately landscaped grounds offering many vantage points to view the old city of Udaipur and its surrounds. Everywhere you look is another reminder of the glory days of Indian heritage, and the hotel is the best place to position yourself for the adventure. Our room was a Premier room (more like a spacious apartment really, with a private courtyard and secondary open courtyard next to one of the pools) and its opulance was beyond any we have experienced before. The food and service at the hotel were of the highest quality (from the detail provided in room service, to the mattress topper we finally discovered is available to ease the issue of hard beds, to the poolside kit (cold water, bug spray, sunscreen, cold face wipes and snacks) provided every time you sit down and contemplate a swim. The Hotels design meanders across the hill, with each corridor and amazing dome displaying a new feature of opulent design and grace. I was particularly impressed that, even though I didn't pay the kings ransom for one of the incredible suites on offer, I never felt that I was less of a guest (this was a huge feature absent in other scalable hotels). The hotel even provided a golf cart service from the front door to the gate or boat ramp, complementary boat shuttle across the lake (with waiting tuk-tuk or taxi at the other side), and warm greetings by every staff member every time. There seems to be an overt sense of focus on quality and satisfaction in this hotel group, reflected in a desire to ensure that the customer is happy at all times. As an Aussie who is used to somewhat less service at home, this was overwhelmingly appreciated and yet at times mildly annoying due to its frequency). The city of Udaipur is less crowded and bustling than other cities, with a feel not unlike the northern lakes in Italy, relaxed and pleasant to walk around with its shops and lanes, lush green vegitation, and the many restaurants of the area. We even engaged in a local cooking class in a provate house in town. The City Palace was well worth the visit, as was the waterfront (reminiscent of Venice). We loved this city, adored this magnificent hotel and its staff, and would not hesitate to recommend it as a place to retreat to and enjoy Indias more relaxed side.

This place transports you to a other world where you are the most important character in the story. The unbeatable location , spellbinding views ,impeccable service and the regal interiors all make the stay just memorable . It was our second tine and it felt more grandiose and better maintained although rain did spoil our plans of a proper property tour . I didnt much like the food this time however the snacks and drinks quite made up for that. The room had a private pool and it was the highlight of our experience . We had direct lake and palace view from the room and it was nothing short of magical . Cant wait to be back again .

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Udaivilla hotel. From the moment we arrived, every detail was taken care of with the utmost luxury and warmth. The staff was exceptionally courteous, the ambiance was elegant, and the service was seamless. The room was beautifully designed with every comfort in mind, and the dining experience was truly world-class. Miss Sara restaurant manager had take extra care about our food requirement. Miss Amisha spa team, conducted a wonderful session of yoga and meditation for us. This stay has been nothing short of memorable, and I would highly recommend Oberoi hotels to anyone looking for a perfect blend of comfort, luxury, and hospitality.

Just had an amazing stay. Staff absolutely fabulous and couldn't do enough for us. It made our 25th wedding anniversary special. We almost didn't leave the hotel the whole time. Boat trip into town and visit to the city palace and temple a must Thoroughly enjoyed the various dining experiences as we had all meals at the hotel. Waiters and waitresses helped us select Indian local dishes for our enjoyment and we enjoyed tasting everything Special shout out to the pool attendants with constant supply of cold drinks and sun tan lotion and to Chaitanya for the yoga and meditation sessions....well worth the 7.30am early start. Thank you Oberoi..we look forward to returning.

Words can’t describe this beautiful resort. We were welcomed with an amazingly courteous staff. Our rooms were upgraded and it had a beautiful pool with an amazing view. Food was also top notch and Services were Beyond my expectations. I highly recommend this resort if you are visiting Udaipur.

5. Lovely place and great staff. Awesome food . Very scenic and well maintained resort. We really enjoyed the morning family yoga sessions with Amisha. Must attend when there.

A palace hotel which treats you and makes you feel like a royalty. Excellent property, beautiful sprawling lawns and landscaped gardens, beautiful view of lake Pichhola and City Palace across the lake, Oberoi brand of staff and service, every little thing taken care of.
