The hotel is near one of the shuttle stops. We got free upgrade to their third floor with Great Wall view. The hotel exteriors show certain ruin to match the whole town structure. Interiors have been remodeled with new windows, doors and bathroom. The staff are friendly and helpful in guiding us tour the town and get express bus back to the city. Great selections of breakfast included. We enjoyed the beautiful night lights of the town and Great Wall from our patio.

It says 3 star hotel here, but this hotel is definitely more like 5 star. The hotel is decorated as a classical Chinese residence on the outside, but all the rooms and interior are modern western design. All staff are helpful, polite and speak English no problems. Our room was huge and nicely decorated, and spotlessly clean. The bed was large and really comfortable. The bathroom was also massive and clean. There was a bath tube, two sinks, and a separate shower. The shower and toilet were in separate cubicles so more than one person can use the bathroom at the same time. There was coffee machine, fridge, safe, iron with ironing board, toiletries in the room. Fresh fruit and biscuits were provided free of charge, as well as drinking water. The view from the room was awesome, it overlooked the swimming pool, and we could also see Simatai great wall in the distance. The hotel is centrally located so you can easily get to all the restaurants and sight spots in Gubei water town. Simatai great wall entrance is about 20 mins walk away. Most people will arrive at Gubei water town at one of the car parks. From there you can get a free shuttle to the 'tourist information centre' where you can check in for the hotel. Then from here you can get a second free shuttle to the hotel. Of course you can also walk, the hotel is around 20 mins walk from the tourist information centre. There is also a free luggage service offered which transports your luggage to the hotel from the car park (and the other way too), we found this extremely helpful. Being a guest of the hotel entitles you to free entrance to Gubei water town, so you don't need to buy the tickets separately. Entrance to Simatai Great Wall still needs to be purchased though, although you get a discount on the night tour if you wish to join that. You also get free entrance to the spa and hot springs, although its a good 15-20 min walk away. Breakfast is a buffet affair with plenty of Chinese and western options, so there is something for everyone. They have a gym, bar and restaurant at the hotel, but we didn't try. I can highly recommend this hotel to anyone considering.

Very comfortable rooms and beds. Hope to return again.
