木府别院

My wife and I stayed here during our Lijiang tour in May. Lijiang Old Town is not a resort area, but the Mufu Bieyuan is situated in its beating heart. The young couple who run it may not speak English; my wife took care of everything. My advice would be to get their telephone number, or learn which room they occupy, because if you want to go out in the early morning you will find yourself locked in the courtyard. They will cheerfully accommodate your needs. When you arrive they may caution you not to eat just anything you see offered on the street. There are two two-story restaurants nearby that are fine. Our room had a ceiling with a recessed black light around it, which I thought was fantastic. If you have a plug adapter that's heavy, take care to support it some way if you plug it into any of the outlets. The one feature of the Mufu Bieyuan that I wasn't crazy about was the toilet. You are warned not to put paper in it; instead, any paper must go in the waste basket. I had no problems, but I imagine that problems might arise. We took a long tour all over Yunnan and returned to the Mufu Bieyuan before we left, which should really say it all.
