丽江金茂酒店

This is a lovely resort with traditional architecture, beautiful landscaping, great facilities and good service (aside from one grouchy buggy driver who started to argue with us when he misheard the letter of the building we asked to be driven to.) Just wandering around the grounds is pleasant and relaxing, with the animals, the waterways and the historical surroundings. Sometimes in a resort like this things can seem fake or artificial but this place nailed it with high end and well thought out design.||The rooms were nicely designed and we had a good view of the snow capped mountain from our balcony. There was even a small fountain in the stream behind the property that gave a relaxing gurgling sound of being near a stream. A few suggestions to improve housekeeping/rooms setup: don't be so stingy on the toilet paper and towels. There should always be at least two full rolls so people don't run out. Also there was a wash basin in the toilet room-- but no liquid or hand soap so it was not very useful if you like to wash your hands with soap and water. Likewise a nice bathtub but no soap dispenser-- so as a result you had one little bar of soap for the whole room and I guess you are supposed to move it around from the bathtub to the two other sinks as needed? Really poor planning for a five star hotel. ||Breakfast was a very nice buffet spread with various options including live cooking stations. Was organized a little weird for some things and you had to hunt around in different rooms for things. For example no spoons available next to the noodle soup bar and you had to go to another room to find them.||We enjoyed the location of the hotel in terms of tranquility but do be aware that it's a longish walk to the beginning of Shuhe ancient town. I'd suggest a ride share or taxi to the entry to the town and save your walking strength for exploring. As an aside, we found the ancient town to be a little disappointing-- overdeveloped, too commercial and crowded for our tastes but many may enjoy the shopping and snacking experience. There are some local restaurants a short walk from the hotel but it seems the better ones are located in the ancient town and not so convenient to walk to.||Overall, can't rate this place less than 5 stars and I would consider it a very good value for the price and unique experience, as long as the location works for you

I stayed at this hotel in August 2024 during a family trip. Although it is not situated in the historic center of the city and requires the use of taxis to reach most destinations, the hotel offers more spacious rooms and is located away from the tourist areas, which creates a much more tranquil atmosphere. The hotel features extensive facilities, with rooms spread across different buildings. It also provides its own internal transport for moving around the hotel and handling luggage, which was greatly appreciated given the large amount of baggage we had. Overall, I was quite pleased with the cleanliness and spaciousness of the rooms, as cleanliness is not always guaranteed in five-star hotels in this country. The rooms have large windows that allow ample natural light, and the lighting is well-designed. The breakfast buffet offered a rich variety of options, including an assortment of beverages, fruits, yogurts, and more, catering well to both Western and Chinese guests. However, there were two significant disappointments. Firstly, we chose this hotel with the expectation of dining several times on-site, as its website advertised numerous restaurants, including one serving Western cuisine. To our dismay, upon arrival we were informed at the reception that only the hot pot restaurant was open. We dined there, but the quality of the food did not justify the 60€ spent, leading us to opt for dining outside the hotel for the rest of our stay. Secondly, the behavior of certain guests was simply unacceptable and uncomfortable. On multiple occasions, the reception restroom was filled with tobacco smoke due to guests smoking there, which led me to avoid using the reception restrooms and instead return to my room. It should be clearly stated that such behavior is not acceptable in a hotel of this standard. Additionally, one afternoon at the pool, I witnessed a woman who, after swimming for 15 minutes, approached the poolside and spat there in front of us, making an unpleasant and disgusting sound during the process. Consequently, I chose not to use the pool after this incident. While these issues are related to individual behavior rather than the hotel's management, they negatively impacted my experience and I felt it necessary to share them in this review.

A very very pleasant stay. Will definitely come back again! Special thanks to Emna for assisting on how to get the free feeding foods for the cute lovely cute animals! It’s a superb kids friendly hotel and relaxing hotel for a family. My kids enjoy it so much! Thanks for the awesome hospitality!

A lovely hotel with a view of the fabled Snow Mountain. The hotel is surrounded by a lake, with black swans! The breakfast is huge, with great views. Rooms are good sized with good sized bathrooms and storage. The only downside is that there are not many choices to eat close by, though the Fire restaurant on site is very good. The old town is around 20 min walk away if you want more choices.

Location (4.5/5): Conveniently near Shuhe Ancient Town.||||Accommodations (3/5): Blend of local charm and modern comfort. Assigned a room with unfinished building view - disappointing.||||Dining (5/5): Outstanding culinary experience.||||Service (3/5): Helpful concierge with luggage’s and shuttles. However, the overall customer service falls short compared to other Unbound Collection hotels. No prior outreach for Globalists, and the front desk lacks warmth during interactions.

Booked a mountain view room and front desk allowed us to view another room once requested. Front desk allowed late check- out due to late flight. Special praise for Mia at the bakery cafe. She helped us to set up Meituan app to order takeaway drinks. We saw her the next day at breakfast restaurant and she suggested we could order the buffet via meituan at a discounted rate. Breakfast buffet selection was a little limited but was in a nice restaurant with views of yulong mountain. Kids liked the fish, swan, alpacas, goat feeding and they took part in a candy drawing activity. Unfortunately the heated pool was still too cold but it was relaxing to soak in the hot pool inside the spa shower facility . Gym was good and empty . Downsides will be the non-existent wifi and air con is blowing warm air even though temp was set low. But this is fine during early spring chilly temperatures. Room decor has nice traditional elements mixed with modern features. Spacious room with sofa. Overall a relaxing time.

The hotel is beautiful and very scenic! The service staff, 柳青Aiden is amazing for his superb service, super attentive to our needs. He went beyond to help us in booking a cab to our restaurant. I have seen him around the hotel during my few days stay and every interaction with him is polite and nice. Amazing staff and stay in Lijiang!
