We enjoyed our stay at Zen Valley Retreat very much. Situated outside the busy centre the hotel is a great place to relax. It is also the ideal starting point for excursions by bike. |What we liked best about Zen Valley were our hosts. Sara and James were ever so helpful and patient. They really made us feel very welcome. Sara advised us on what to see and where to go. We even got picked up by James when we ended up in the pouring rain after dining in the nearby farmer's restaurant (which we highly recommend).

We had five days at Zen Valley – unexpectedly, as there was a mix-up at the place we’d booked, which we were initially very cross about, but we ended up feeling this alternative to be a blessing. Zen Valley was much quieter than the other places and Sira the host was exceptional. Her English is excellent which is a godsend in China, and there was no end to her helpfulness, thoughtfulness and generosity throughout our stay. We had a suite which was clean, light and spacious with an amazing view. We both ended up having health problems at points, unfortunately, and Sira and her husband James were very caring and helpful in regards to this. Their baby Lucas is adorable and the whole feel of our stay was a relaxed family environment - a perfect place to unwind and explore the beautiful surrounding countryside to end our holiday in China. Huge thanks to Sira, who is a true ambassador for the place and at the heart of what made our stay in Yangshuo as pleasant as it was.

Zen Valley Retreat is located about 10 min bicycle from the city center. The facility has, I believe, 4 rooms, 2 of which are suites with spectacular view. We got the suite on the 2nd floor. Amy, the lady who manages the facility for its owner, Mabel, is marvelous. She and the driver picked us up from the dock in the rain (she's 7 months pregnant). We learned so many travel tips from her during our stay. Along with her husband Ken and brother James, they are managing the facility all together. James is a very cook! We were there in mid-June, and unfortunately it was raining most of the time. So we could not do most of the thing that we had planned to do ... nothing we could do about it ... except to enjoy the view, which is soooo beautiful. We were able to ride the bicycle for about half a day to enjoy the peaceful scenery in the area. We'll be back in better time (Sept/Oct) and chances are we'll stay at the Zen Valley Retreat again!

We loved our stay at Zen Valley Hotel. It was a wonderful quiet place to stay between the Karst mountains of Yangshuo. The hostess Sarah was great and spoke nearly fluent English, a great plus. She arranged bikes for us and also a map of what to do. As a bonus on the last morning we went with her to a nearby cave!

We'd travelled in to China from Hong Kong, staying in Guilin along the way, and found this little place was the most evocative and enjoyable of our whole stay. The impression you get from their online presence is absolutely accurate - we had the exact room pictured in the photo - but that doesn't really prepare you for the stunning perfection of the view of the conical karst mountains. ||We spent a good part of our time cycling around the countryside, and the nearby river. Sira, who was there most of the time, was wonderful at helping us plan our route; she was a constant helpful presence and gave us real insight into the area and the culture. The cycling was thrilling, if exhausting, always with an extra frisson of excitement or terror via the local drivers - overall we found the people lovely, cheerful and hospitable, but demons once behind a steering wheel. We snaked alongside the river, constantly arrested by the beauty of the view, even with the sad addition, on our trip, of mud-brick houses that had collapsed in recent, severe flooding. The Zen Valley's beautiful Lotus flowers were ravaged by the floods - but when we arrived, two days after muddy water had swamped the surroundings, the guest house looked impeccable. ||Chinese breakfast - pickled beans and bamboo shoots - was wonderful, as were the other delicacies we sampled. On our final day, pushed for time, James drove us around various locations, including a tea plantation up in the mountains, and a vantage point high up, with an incredible view of the karst landscape. It capped an experience that was exhausting, but always magical.

Nice little hotel outside of the town Yangshuo.||My high rating for the hotel is not because it has highly luxurious rooms or a spa or sky bar or gym. It has none of those. But it did fully meet my expectations, and the kindness of the staff gives it an additional star.||||The location of the hotel is good for a cycle tour or walk along the Yulong river and other places. Yangshuo town is easily reached by a ride on the many motorbikes, a bicycle or by foot. A taxi is of course also an option.||The hotel is located a bit beyond a gate from where cars recently have to pay a fee until 19:00. From Yangshuo you can take a taxi to the gate and walk the last 10 minutes. When arriving with luggage the staff of the hotel will kindly drive you from there to the hotel if you contact them in time.||Some of the rooms have a really nice view over the fields and the karst mountains. The room on the third floor has a living room with connected bathroom and a bedroom. The bed was very good and clean, not one of those really hard Chinese beds. The nights were quiet and I slept very well. Airconditioning is available to cool down the room.||They serve a good breakfast and for dinner there is a restaurant with Chinese, Thai and western style food only a few minutes walking distance from the hotel.||||The staff was very kind and helpful and make you feel welcome. They replied quickly on a few e-mails about transportation from the railway station. Sira speaks English very well (among other languages). They have some bicycles available and advice on where to go to.

阳朔城外不错的小酒店。||我对这家酒店的高评价并不是因为它有非常豪华的客房、水疗中心、空中酒吧或健身房。它没有这些。但确实完全达到了我的预期，工作人员的友善又给它加了一星。||||酒店的位置很适合骑自行车游览或者沿着遇龙河等地方散步。乘坐众多摩托车、自行车或步行即可轻松抵达阳朔镇。当然也可以选择出租车。||酒店距离大门稍远，最近开车必须在 19:00 之前付费。从阳朔出发，可以打车到门口，步行最后10分钟。当您携带行李抵达时，如果您及时联系酒店的工作人员，他们会亲切地开车送您前往酒店。||部分房间可以欣赏到田野和喀斯特山脉的美丽景色。三楼的房间设有一间带连接浴室的客厅和一间卧室。床非常好而且干净，不是那种很硬的中国床。夜晚很安静，我睡得很好。有空调让房间凉爽。||他们提供美味的早餐，晚餐时有一家餐厅提供中式、泰式和西式美食，距离酒店只有几分钟的步行路程。||||工作人员非常友善乐于助人，让您感到宾至如归。他们很快回复了几封有关火车站交通的电子邮件。 Sira 英语说得很好（除其他语言外）。他们提供一些自行车并提供去哪里的建议。
