Not sure if hotel name's charged to Zhangjiajie Laurel, but location seems to match. Anyway hotel room is above average, light switches are well marked. Breakfast buffet spartan. WIFI slow. AC and water temperature either too hot or cold.

Good location within walking distance to the national forest park. Our room was comfortable for 3 of us with 2 single beds and an added bed. The added bed had spring that was too soft but my teenage daughter was ok with it. December was not a peak season so it was not so crowded during breakfast time. Reasonable spread with basic western variety - bread, buns, butter, jam. Like the beef noodle and the dumplings (馄饨）in spicy soup. There is also a town with shops and eateries not too far away probably a 5min taxi ride. I would have walked if it was not raining during my stay there. We had one dinner in the restaurant and food was no big deal, just like any other set meals with some 10 dishes, a soup - just the standard meal that any tour groups would get. I would recommend this hotel if you are travelling on your own due to its easy accessibility to the main attraction so you save on transport and don't need to pay a hefty fee for any day tour to the national park.

I traveled by tour this time and they has picked this hotel for me. First impression was the hotel is surprisingly huge, I heard the tour guide told us this hotel has 800 rooms. |The hall is big but empty, all I can see is 2 receptions, 2 cleaning staffs an that’s it. We had the room in Block C (C326). We took the nearest elevator but it was for Block A. There was just only a little sign point where Block B and C located, no map, no staffs to help and we had to find it our own.|The room’s lights was bright and the room is big. It has a fridge but not working, aircon is hard to control but the TV connection was good. The toilet and washing room were clean too. |I will give 7 points for this breakfast at this hotel, not to good, not too bad. They maked it look like a buffet but actually it just has about 20 types of food (included 5 kinds of buns) and it the same during the time we stayed. |The hotel location is not so bad. It nears the gate to got into Tianzi Shan (avatar mountains), nears the walking street 溪布街 (5min by cab) and nears the beautiful bridge but we didn’t have time to visit.

Known as Zhangjiajie State Guest Hotel in English on their website and business cards, this is an affordable place to stay. It has bathtubs!!! If you hike a lot at the park, the tub revives the muscles for another great day of hiking. It's also a great way to warm up in the chilly temps of the hotel (winter). As is the custom, the hotel has open-air, no matter how cold the outside - as they blend and that temperature becomes the hallway/lobby/restaurant temp. Wear full gear (hat, gloves, etc.) for the restaurant in winter. One of the doormen spoke some English (and was tremendously helpful), but other than that, learn more Mandarin or let gestures and pictures, etc., help out. Room was decent, kept clean, maid left information on forecast and temperatures, which I appreciated, as language didn't matter. The location is a short distance to board a bus to the national park. To the right about 10 minutes takes you to an official entrance where the bus takes you to one location, included in park price. Go left to the corner, then left a block and a half and you're at the city bus stop (on left) which takes you to the main entrance. Small restaurants nearby for evening (or mid-day) meal. It was a good value for the money.

1. 鄰近武陵園門票站(標誌門), 地理位置佳。||2. 有熱水澡可以洗。||3. 一開始冷氣不夠冷, 要一段時間才會舒服。||4. 鄰近公車站, 魅力湘西表演劇場, 附近還有大型超市不錯。||5. 飯店接很多團客，所以早餐很多可以選，這點很好。||6. 飯店的游泳池形同虛設，沒有人在游，而且泳池的水可能都是雨水。||7. 飯店的wifi是免費的，速度還可以。||整體來說地點非常好，很推薦

It could be better if they can maintain and make the hotel newer. The hotel is very big and has a good location but too old never renew. Pool was empty and looked messy and dirty. Our room was at building B and 4th floor. Really far and time consuming. Coridor is very noisy. Be careful with local china tourist that pretend they knock the wrong room. Quite scary though. Breakfast so so. There is supermarket at the ground floor. Very helpful if you need drinks or foods, even shoes, jacket, and extra clothing

Very busy hotel with many tour groups. Breakfast is more of a stampede than a leisurely occasion and there is little English spoken to make any job easier. Rooms are comfortable and spacious, but the walls are somewhat thin and the doorbell chimes annoying during the night. There is a shop included in the hotel, but the staff member seems not that interested in serving tourists.
