Our stay started out bad. We were told to look for a shuttle when we got off the train and call if one was not there. Since it was not there, we called the hotel and was told the driver had fallen asleep but was on his way and should be there in five minutes. After 20 minutes we called again. We were then told that he was already there and left. He was not driving the River's Edge van because it was broken down and instead was driving a van from the Bridgewater. Not knowing this, we did not look for him so he left. At this point there were 8 people waiting for that shuttle. We were told he would be returning in 20 minutes. So, 40 minutes after our arrival and with the train station pretty much closed up, we all waited. He finally arrived with a very weak apology. Everyone was upset as it was after 9:00 PM and we were tired and ready to get to the hotel. It was a quiet ride.|Once at the hotel, we were quicky checked it, but not a word was mentioned about the shuttle - not even a "sorry about that." We could not believe it when we opened the door to our "cottage." It was small, worn, and musty. It smelled like it had not been used for some time. When we turned the air conditioner on, it also smelled musty. The pedestal table was wobbly and useless. We barely had room for our luggage. The door had streaks of rusty water where it had obviously leaked. The shower had mold or mildew above it. The beds were somewhat comfy. Since we were not in our room much, we just put up with it. |The staff was very friendly. The breakfast was just okay. I am sure there are better places in Fairbanks to stay. Our travel agent booked this for us, but we will be sure to relay the condition we found it.

The name River's Edge is a joke unless you happen to get one of the half-dozen rooms that actually overlooks the river. Our room faces the highway. The patio touted in the marketing materials is the size of a postage stamp, and it's in front of a hedge (see photos). So there are no views at all. The rooms are pretty dinky. The breakfast costs $20/head. We are at least ten minutes out of the city. We were booked for a two-night stay, but two people came around to tell us that we were only booked for one night and we were supposed to check out this morning. We were able to fix that, but thank goodness we hadn't left yet for our hike or we might have come back to find our belongings out on the pavement. It's cheap - $189/night - but you get what you pay for.

Don't judge this book by its cover. The outside of the cabins look tired but the rooms were clean and professionally decorated. Friendly staff.. bathroom is small but not much can be done about that. Great view of the river. Transportation from railroad a plus

Pleasant surprise. Sweet little cabins on the river. Pictures on website show you exactly what you get. My room was comfortable and clean. With microwave and refrigerator. Parking is a little confusing but I figured it out 🤣. The check in and lobby are very nice and comfortable a nice little gift shop. The staff was exceptional.

The cabins were basic amenities but spacious. Good showers and quiet. If you use any app to make reservations make sure you call and confirm as they don’t check the outside reservations. The desk staff is very direct and not customer service oriented. Neither upon entering or leaving was the office staff friendly and courteous. They couldn’t find my reservations, the room I reserved was not available. Glad I didn’t stay in the main lodge as the noise carries throughout the lodge and the loud voices at 6:30 was unacceptable. Probably will look for a different place to stay next time I’m in Fairbanks.

Overall this is a nice place to stay. I loved that I could park right outside my door. I loved that we didn't share walls with anyone so it was quiet and peaceful. The rooms have Arcadia doors with screens to let in the cool breeze. The room also had a ceiling fan which kept us cool at night.

Great Place! It is not the equal of the best hotels in CONUS - continental U.S. - but by Alaskan standards it is wonderful. If I used Alaskan standards, it would be a big 5+. |The rooms are far more than adequate for a very comfortable stay, and being on the edge of the river makes them very pleasing, making for a very nice walk on the edge of the Chena River. |The breakfast was very good and some might consider it expensive for what it is, but again you are in Alaska. Everything is more expensive in Alaska, not because of greed but because of the remoteness.|All of the staff were very helpful and friendly. They treated everyone the same, giving prompt attention to their customers and excellent service.|The restaurant by the resort was a very pleasant experience for our very first meal in Alaska. |We stayed three nights and would certainly stay there again if we return to Fairbanks.

This was what we expected for the area. The hotel is away from downtown. The breakfast was way overpriced for scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy. There is a nice restaurant attached to the hotel but separate from the breakfast in the main room of hotel. The rooms were clean. Could use updating but hopefully you aren’t spending all your time in the room while in Fairbanks. Clean sheets and towels and plenty of hot water. The staff was pleasant. We did not stay long enough to get room service so can’t review that. We definitely expected more from Norwegian Cruise line for the money we spent on the land tour but that is a ding on cruise line and not the hotel.
