★★★★★A peaceful, home-like stay in a breathtakingly beautiful location. We stayed in the Halibut Room which basically felt like a home away from home. Photos don't do justice to what it feels like to step out of the room, take a few steps to the beach, and stroll while viewing snowcapped mountains across the bay. The suite had a nicely appointed kitchen and a majestic main bedroom with its own mountains of luxurious pillows. I hear that summer is the high season in Homer but I think fall might be Alaska's best-kept secret, when the air is crisp and you can walk in any direction and see eagles and moose and scurry back to the White House Inn on the Waterfront and enjoy a cozy glass of red wine as the sun goes down.

★★★★★The Halibut Room at the White House Inn on the Waterfront is a home away from home!||We thoroughly enjoyed staying here! The apartment was very clean and nicely decorated. The beds were extremely comfortable!||We appreciated the Keurig but there was also ground coffee for the regular coffee maker should you prefer to make a whole pot. There was also complimentary microwave popcorn which we enjoyed!||If you like the option to prepare some of your own meals, you will certainly appreciate having the full kitchen. (If we ever get the chance to come back, I would definitely take advantage of this.)||I loved the location of this rental! It is situated between town and the spit so you have just about 5 minute drive to any restaurant. And the view. Just wow!||But probably the highlight for me was walking out into the yard and seeing a moose nibbling in the plants. (Note: do watch for droppings as you walk about the yard and down the path to the seawall.) I went back and watched from the porch. ||The owner and manager were very friendly and helpful even texting us where we could usually spot an eagle.|||

NillThis is a truly beautiful inn with a spectacular view of the mountains across the bay. We frequently saw otters in the water right out in front of us. Our room was lovely with a picture window overlooking the water. The room is extremely comfortable with a refrigerator, freezer, microwave, 2 coffee makers and other amenities. We loved it here. My only regret is that we did not have a car and depending on taxis can be frustrating.

★★★★★We stayed for two nights in the King Salmon room on the second floor with a beautiful view of the ocean and mountains. The property is wonderful, with a big lawn, grill, hot tub, and steps down to the sea wall. Our room was lovely, with two beds, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, plates, mugs, and utensils, table and two chairs right at the window overlooking the lawn and ocean. The bathroom was a good size with a walk-in tile shower. Only one minor thing that needs attention is the shower curtain liner really needs to be changed. |The big picture window doesn’t open so the only ventilation comes from opening the screened window on the door and turning on the ceiling fan. This was fine for us as the temperatures were in the 60s but just wanted to mention it. |Check in and check out were easy and done via text. The location is perfect, not far from the Spit or downtown, yet so quiet and secluded. We would love to visit again!

★★★★We were wowed from the start by the view and the lovely yard with Adirondack chairs overlooking the ocean toward the mountains, with a pair of eagles flying back and forth for entertainment. It seems very quiet and secluded but is convenient to town. There are several units in a white, two story house. We had the bottom floor two bedroom unit, the Halibut condo. 2 King beds and bedding were very comfortable and the place was nice and clean. Kitchen was well stocked with plenty of counter space and appliances. The price is reasonable for the area. The White House Inn is darn near perfect, but I will mention a few things that were less than perfect so someone searching for lodging can decide if these would be important to them or not. |When we first walked inside, it was very hot and stuffy. There was only one floor fan provided and no way to open up the front bedroom window to get some cross ventilation going. A phone call to the manager partially remedied the problem--they promptly brought a second fan. There's not much room for dining at the small table, but there's a picnic table out front and plenty of couch seating. There are two large couches in the small living room area, so the room is crowded. (If you like a large open dining/living area, this wouldn't be your style, but it worked fine for us because it provided seating for all.) The front bedroom is also fairly crowded with furniture. We had to move a couple of the chairs up against walls in order to have clear passage. There are a couple of area rugs over carpet. As area rugs over carpet tend to do, the corners were trying to curl up and could be a trip hazard in the living room and bedroom. We suggested they be retaped. |All in all, we had a lovely stay and would certainly come again.

★★★★★We had a wonderful stop in the middle of our Alaska Journey, here at the White House Inn on the beach. The views from our front porch, the lawn, and the hot tub were unparalleled and required nothing more of us than a hot cup of coffee and perhaps looking up from our books. Alaska is so filled with adventures, we welcomed the deeply quiet nights, the site of the moon coming up over the mountains, and the chance we had to reflect before a moment before going on to bear viewing, gallery gazing, and gourmet meals in Homer.

★★Views and location are great. Management is nonexistent. Beds were way too soft using two pillow tops to cover up an old mattress. Decorating was horrible and the over stuffed furniture was junk! The bedroom we slept in was illegal with no egress and the windows don't open for fresh air. The four of us agreed that the owner and management just don't care and it showed.

NillWe loved staying at the White House, you will too! We had two rooms facing the bay, blessed with awesome ocean views. Breakfasts and dinners were special watching the tide come in and out with the occasional otter sighting thrown in for good measure. The beds in our room were excellent, comfortable and high. The rooms had two coffee makers with plenty of coffee at our disposable along with mugs, plates, cutlery, etc. There was a microwave and fridge too (with kids appreciating the free popcorn ready to pop). There were plenty of soft towels, and bathroom supplies. The water pressure and hot water were good as well. White House inn was a memorable place to stay, centrally located (five mins from Safeway and two mins from a laundromat), with very comfortable home like setting.
