I had high hopes for the Moxy Hotel in Tempe, especially after experiencing the Moxy in Miami, but unfortunately, this location did not meet expectations. The employees were friendly and welcoming, which was a positive aspect of my stay, but that’s where the good experience ended. When I checked into my room, it was immediately clear that cleanliness was an issue. The room had not been properly cleaned, and the desk needed a good wipe-down. The bathroom was even more concerning, with hair on the floor and dirty shower tiles. It felt like the room had been overlooked in terms of basic maintenance. However, the most unsettling part of my stay happened when I took a shower late at night after returning from a company dinner. When the bathroom mirror steamed up, a word appeared: “murder.” As a 24-year-old woman traveling alone, this was deeply disturbing and made me feel extremely unsafe. I understand this could have been a prank, but it was horrifying nonetheless. I reported this incident to the front desk, hoping they would address my concerns, but all they did was apologize and offered no further assistance. Despite the unsettling experience and issues with cleanliness, my room was still charged at the full price of $367 for one night. In hindsight, I should have stayed at one of the nearby resorts. I was originally excited to stay at a Moxy, but this location was not well kept, and I would not recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable and secure stay.

The Moxy! My favorite! I had an absolute blast staying at the Moxy Tempe Phoenix ASU! This hotel deserves every one of its 5 stars. The pool was hands-down the funnest I’ve ever experienced at a hotel—vibrant, lively, and perfect for relaxing or socializing. The location couldn’t be better, right near ASU and all the Tempe hotspots, making it super convenient for exploring. Plus, as a Marriott Bonvoy member, I racked up valuable points, which is always a win! The staff were friendly, the vibe was trendy, and everything felt fresh and modern. I was in Arizona for work, it was so boring, I can’t wait to come back—Moxy Tempe nailed it!

I travel a lot, more than 100 nights per year and this is the worst place I've been to in a long time. People at the front desk were great, I will give them that. Lobby and bar seemed ok. However the room is not maintained at all. Floor between the beds is sticky, the bathroom is falling apart. Paint bubbling away from the drywall. And the kicker is I had NO HOT WATER the first day!! The interesting part is when I came here to look at reviews about this hotel there is another one from about a week earlier that says they didn't have hot water for 2 days. That tells me the management knows there is an issue but isn't spending the money to do a proper fix on the problem. We were there for a sales team kickoff, I had 11 rooms rooms booked and 1 day we reserved a meeting room. The day of our meeting there was a small fire in the kitchen and we all had to evacuate the building! Again this just makes me feel like this property is not taken care of!

First, I want to say that Paige was super polite and helpful. Now to the concerns. First in the common areas. The pinball game machines were only partially working. The fooseball table had several broken and missing handles. We were on the first floor and the hallways were filthy with dirt, never vacuumed. The pool was full of debris and had cigarette butt's floating in it. Each day new towels were brought to the pool but it was never cleaned. There were missing smoke detectors in the hallway. In our room, there was so much water damage and repair on the ceilings and walls, just gross. The shower wall tiles were falling off and there was hair stuck to the bathroom ceiling. I hope this informs the appropriate individuals to have a serious look at this property as it's in shambles and doesn't seem to be managed correctly.

I am a person that always tries to give good reviews. In this particular case I cannot give a good review. I stayed at this hotel. There is no TV. No nothing in the room. They did not tell me about that before I got there. Everything is old stinky there’s dog poop out on the outside patio walkways. I didn’t feel safe. It was very gross. I called to get somebody to give me clarification on what happened and I could never get a call back from Mr. Paul. I would not have even done a review. I gave them a solid 10 days and I could not get a call back for my concerns if I was you I would stay away from this hotel they don’t care about their customers or about cleanliness.

Book elsewhere! I travel weekly for work and stay at Marriott hotel chains all around the country. This is one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had at a hotel. Room smelled like dirty feet as soon as I walked in and the rooms are dark/dingy. No hot water for two nights. My door lock died on second night. 1 of 3 treadmills worked in the gym. Do yourself a favor and stay another hotel in the area.

I planned to give the hotel’s management this feedback when they reached out to me like every other Marriott does, but they never did, so I’m putting my review here. The good: - The front desk staff were great. We had repeated problems with the toilet and housekeeping that they were very helpful with. - I've stayed at multiple Moxy hotels and this had by far the largest rooms. - The shower pressure and temperature were great. - The location is great with so many restaurants and convenience stores in walking distance. - The lobby is well-designed. Seating is comfortable and the various games are a great way to kill time. The bad: - Housekeeping did not come at the daily cadence promised and when they did, the service was subpar. When we checked in, there was trash on the deck that they never cleaned for the duration of our stay. The floors were sticky and we had to go out of our way to ask they be cleaned. We tried to schedule housekeeping through the front desk and they arrived 2 hours late. - The light fixtures are in disrepair. A ceiling fixture in the bathroom was almost falling out and the light above the couch made a flickering sound indicative of an electrical hazard. The lighting in the rooms overall are not bright enough. - The toilet was in disrepair. Upon check in, the seat and lid were half attached to the bowl. A few days later it stopped flushing fully, the front desk sent someone to fix it, and it stopped flushing fully again that evening. - The night before check out, we noticed the A/C leaked and soaked my wife's luggage. - The pool was advertised as heated. It was not heated. It was also littered for the duration of our stay and closed for a day. - The gym was closed for the duration of our stay. - Minor comedic rant: the wall art above the A/C unit is unsettling. If I bought melatonin off temu and took it before bed, I would see that face in my nightmares. Alternatively, I stayed a week at the Tempe Moxy and accomplished the same thing. - No free water bottles in the Phoenix climate is wrong. - The elevator is shaky, grinding and I question its safety - The door to the stairwell sticks. That's also a safety hazard since it's a fire escape route. Overall this is the worst experience I've had at any Marriott chain hotel. There were good parts and I appreciate them. They are substantially outweighed by the bad.

With a little attention to cleanliness, this Moxy location could be one of the best options in Tempe. The room design is funky and different. The lobby – which at many hotels feels sterile and functional – has a cool lounge vibe. For that reason, I spent my evening reading and working in the lobby instead of holing up in my room which I appreciated. You check-in at the bar and get a drink ticket. Nice touch. But, because the bartender is also the receptionist, it's easy to imagine this leading to bad service for both the patrons and arriving guests. That wasn't the case for me, but others noted it and I don't doubt it could be an issue. And, as many reviewers have noted, the lack of attention to detail in cleanliness is obvious. My room was clean, but I noticed some hair in multiple places in the bathroom. Which lead me to wonder just how clean my room really was. I didn't mind the lack of a closet. I thought the concept of hangers on the wall itself was funky, functional, and a better use of space in most cases. I'm definitely curious to check out other Moxy locations having experienced the concept in Tempe. But, I'm unlikely to return here unless I see a major correction in the reviews.
