NillThis will not be the best review but it will be honest. My first issue is the cost of the room. I do understand it may be a holiday weekend. But for people that are traveling through not staying multiple days. And taking one of the last two rooms in the hotel. Mind you you have made your money. I was charged $261 for the same room that is $143 today. And I understand about supply and demand, but you were full and made your money and the only thing that I’m going to cost you is washing the sheets. And maybe I wouldn’t complain if this was a $261 hotel. But I’m sorry you’re not. Here’s a few problems that I had. 1. The bathroom door is broke and coming apart at the bottom. 2. The dresser is broken at the bottom 3. The towels are tattered and worn out 4. The fire sprinkler escutcheons is missing. This is a fire code violation. 5. The electrical plates in the bathroom are cracked 6. The pool is out of service and looks like it has been for a while. 7. The wire track covers are missing 8. The shower head needs to be cleaned so the port work correctly. Maybe I wouldn’t be as critical, but if a person pays that much for a room, it should be better.

★★I don’t know if they decided to give us the worst room in the house but our experience doesn’t match those of other reviews. The furnishings in our room are sub standard, worn, dated, chipped paint, stained couch (I cannot sit on it gross). The heating unit is disgustingly dirty. The room smells like fried food. The bathroom vanity seems modern the tub: I’m not sure I can shower in it. It’s like that of a 1950s motel. Old & worn. The lobby seems modern, not upscale but decent. The fitness center seems well equipped. The landscaping outdoors seems to be under construction. I’m just not sure why the management put this platinum elite member such a horrible space. I feel like this place is worse than any holiday inn I’ve stayed at I’m moving back to holiday inn express or another hotel chain. At least my he’d is comfy.

★★★★We stayed in Savannah for one night on our way to Florida. We like to stay somewhere right off Route 95. I usually try to get a Holiday Inn, either the Express or, preferably, a facility with a restaurant. We stayed on a Sunday night, a night of NFL play-offs. We sat in the lobby (with our 70 pound dog) watching the football games. That was a plus. The room was spacious and the bathroom had the shampoo, conditioner, and body lotion that one expects. The bed was comfortable. No complaints about the room. I wasn't able to get on-line with their wifi but I have my own hotspot as I expect everyone does nowadays. It was too cold to use the pool. There is a nice area to sit with one's dog. Check in and out was quick and painless. There is a restaurant and bar inside the facility that isn’t run by the Holiday Inn. It’s called Philly’s Bar & Grill. We ordered supper to take back to the room. We got an order of chicken wings and a burger with ‘steamed vegetables’ instead of the French fries. The vegetables were a dish full of peas, carrots, and green beans. It was ok but when one sees ‘steamed vegetables’, one thinks broccoli, cauliflower, and/or asparagus. In the morning, the restaurant was open for breakfast, to order off their menu. I really enjoy a quick breakfast before we get back on the road. That is not the case here. Breakfast is not provided by the Holiday Inn, not even a muffin, which was disappointing. It is something to weigh for the next time we go through Savannah.

★Checking in.. not being recognized as Gold member, which means go buy my own water for that evening. Get to room and smoke alarm is chirping. Report it to front desk and wait and wait. Finally tired of waiting and listening to chirping, so I climb up on chair and take battery out and proceed to front desk. They finally found a battery and I was concerned it was an old battery. Well at 4:30 am the chirping starts again. I get up, climb up on chair, take battery out and clean it, put back in and reset alarm. All this after I paid for an upgraded room for a nice enjoyable stay for my wife’s birthday. Breakfast… Ordered a ham and cheese omelette. It came and there was a slice of ham and a cooked eggs between two slices of toast. Like a sandwich!! And to think I had to pay for it!!!! Day 1.. Left at 10:30am arrived back at 10:00pm only to find the room never made up. Reported it to front desk and got some fresh towels. Day 2. Left at 10:00am back at 4:00pm only to find the room again not serviced. Went to front desk and ask, what I had to do to have the room serviced? Do I have to request it every day and the answer was no they are to do it every day. They sent someone to service the room while we were out to dinner. By the way, no the do not disturb sign was not on the door, and nothing was on the bed so it could be made up. I have traveled enough to know better. Big torn holes in the middle of two of the bath towels. I hung them up so house keeping could see them and hopefully throw them away. Shower drained so slow I had to put on a life vest and yes reported it to the front desk. The couch, we could not sit on it with all the stains on each of the cushions. That couch needs removed. I have stayed at many Holiday Inn’s in my business days for travel and for personal travel, but I have never experienced anything like this. I am not the type to complain, but I just could not hold back on this one. I always give high marks for my stays at Holiday Inn.

NillWe stayed at a nice Holiday Inn Express in LA a few months ago, so had some expectations. This Express is showing its' age. The room stunk of stale cigarette smoke and the refrigerator was broken. I mentioned the broken refrigerator to the desk person, but she didn't seem too concerned. In general the hotel seems tired. Would definitely not stay here again, and it has made me cautious regarding future travel and staying at other Holiday Inn Express. There are a lot of hotels in the area so we will try something else next time through.

★★★Check in went smoothly at 4:45pm. Being Diamond Elite I received 2 waters at check-in. Did receive 500 bonus at check-in. I did not receive breakfast vouchers. This is the first time I did not at a Holiday Inn Hotel. Maybe because I used points, but this has never happened before and I stay at a lot of Holiday Inn full service hotels. Restaurant onsite provides drinks and limited food options. Was very pricey for what you get. After drinks we went to Applebee's across the street which was wonderful ( I recommend). Hotel is very convenient to I-95 and lots of restaurant options within walking distance.

NillMy Father was in the hospital there in savannah. I traveled there from Texas 3 different times. The first time I stayed at this hotel...every accommodation was great even the staff. The second time I stayed at another hotel closer to the hospital. The staff was great but the hotel was unacceptable. The third time my family and myself was again at Gateway Holiday Inn S-I95...I ended up having to stay for 2 weeks. I felt safe and very comfortable. My room was very clean and nice with the accepting of the ceiling looked as if it suffered some weather damage...usually I am extremely picky but this did not place a damper on the overall appearance of the room. I will stay there again if the need should ever arise again. A shout out to that awesome front desk staff!!!

NillFinally got the extra bedding for the sofa bed and made the bed. Just asleep and the smoke alarm starts beeping. Desk staff brings a new battery. Free Breakfast has limited choices for members. Service was snail slow, food was okay. Faucet in bathroom causes water all over the counter as positioned wrong. Was going to stay 2 night but decided nope. All in all , don't recommend.
