Great staff, but not geared up for business travel. Had a negative encounter with a random non-hotel guest who was wandering, intoxicated, through the parking lot, but there was nothing to indicate this was a frequent event. My rating reflects a business, not a family travel perspective.

The five star review is mainly for the great service. I recently stayed at the TownePlace Suites Chicago Lombard and after my friend and I checked in, we had a little issue with our room and requested a different one. Aswini at the front desk took the time to show us some available rooms and helped us to pick the one we liked. If someone from Marriott reads this review, please make sure she either gets a bonus or a promotion. She is great, offers exceptional service which is getting rare these days. We had a 2-bedroom apartment which was clean and had enough space for 2. The hotel offers free breakfast and has a little gym. It is definitely a good option if you need a hotel with more space, and like the convenience of free breakfast.

Easy location for shopping. We spent the weekend shopping at Oakbrook, the two bedroom suite gave us a nice quiet place to retreat too. We were on the third floor room number 306. There was a disturbance at the other end of the building with a young woman, extremely loud music, we didn’t get involved but we did chuckle at bit no words between us at her apparent solo concert, she must have been looking at her peep hole, swung her door open stared at us until the elevator appeared just in time.

I requested a change in the sheets and received an attitude from the staff. I also asked for new towels because ours were stained with blood. He got angry at us, as if it were our fault and that we were inconveniencing him. Overall, the room is nice, but it’s not as clean as I would have liked or expected.

I would run far and fast from this place to the Courtyard down the street about a mile away. Absolutely not recommended. When I got there, the main front door was closed at check-in time. What? I've never in my life had to be "buzzed in" at a hotel during normal check in time at 3pm. So, that was odd. Front desk people seemed like they were overcompensating for the weirdness, I just wanted to bypass the desk with a mobile key but that didn't happen. So I was subject to about 10 questions about my trip there (just drove several states away, super tired, probably look as cranky as I feel, can I just have my key?) Room had a lot of water damage on the walls in the bathroom, a ladybug on the wall (in the dead of Winter?) Bed was kind of low to the ground and no box spring, mattress was hard as a rock. Although on first glance when I walked in, it looked nice. Took a shower and the water pressure barely worked, so the many options on the shower head were basically useless. There were many hairs in the shower that weren't mine. Breakfast is free and hot, smelled good, although I didn't stop in for any. The whole building needs an overhaul, I don't know what was "fully renovated" unless it's just slapping some new furniture in rooms and calling that a renovation, but it wasn't as nice as it looked online by a long shot. The elevators were squeaky and extremely slow. I thought I'd just deal with it, as it's located an area where I wanted to be. However, after the third time I walked out to my car and saw people standing right in front of it by the door, smoking cigarettes and also weed, I decided that was the last straw. One of them had the door propped open while smoking also. Some of the people staying there honestly looked like they've been living there for a while. That's all I'm going to say. Overall, I would not ever recommend this property to anybody. I think it feels unsafe, and was terribly outdated inside. It needed a deep cleaning really badly.

I would return to this location. Walking distance to Target and short Uber drive to outdoor mall ... stores and restaurants . The maintenance personnel was very responsive. The beds are very firm. Going to downtown Chicago is still at least an hour ride due to traffic.

The only thing going for this location is location. Stay anywhere else if they’re available in the area. I had a two bedroom suite. The dishes were dirty. The counters were dirty. The dishwasher had broken items in the bottom and melted plastic.

I booked my hotel through the Explore Form and I am a Gold Member of Marriott. I was deeply disappointed to be denied a room upgrade at the front desk despite my Gold status and the availability of rooms. Even though I am just a Gold Member, it clearly states that my benefits include room upgrades. When I asked about purchasing an upgrade instead of receiving it for free, I was still denied. I even checked online and saw that there were available rooms when I asked for the upgrade. It seems that because I used the Explore Form, there is a discrimination in the service provided. As a loyal member who has earned this status, I had higher expectations for the service. Please address this issue immediately and provide the upgrade I am entitled to, or at least allow me to purchase the upgrade. Thank you.
