Sunset Inn - John Day

Had to leave as my house was flooding. Left large game type vest with large fluorescent lettering K9 SAR (search and rescue) on back. On pockets my name in large lettering. I had hung it up to dry and one week later had to go on search and remembered I left it hanging up. Called and said they did not find it. Best large enough for a med sized man, hanging up. Humm, watch your things. Makes you wonder when they clean your room. Never going there again!

The beds were great, the room we had was very spacious. The chair and couch in the room were filthy, didn't even want to touch them. Ice machine was broken and when I booked it said it has a pool, definitely did not have a pool

Nice friendly staff. Rooms are clean. Instant on hot water is tepid is my only gripe. That being said the shower is not an ender for this hotel. Excellent wifi.

Had a really good stay, it looks like they recently remodeled their rooms. The parking was ample, nice walking distance to all the food places in town. The staff was also really friendly and nice, the prices were also very affordable. Can't go wrong, I'll come back

We've stayed here a few years back when it was called a different hotel, and it wasn't very kept, to say the least. This time, however, they were sold out everywhere due to the fire, and this was the last remaining hotel. So we came here, knowing it wasn't great and only purchased 1 day so we're pleasantly surprised with how much they have improved and updated the rooms that we actually stayed THERE another night instead of trying to seek a different hotel. If you have stayed here before, believe me, it HAS changed. It's still a decent price, and the rooms are finally looking like a hotel you would stay in. That's why I am writing a review. Simply because THIS hotel needs credit, for whoever this new ownership is. Great job! If I return to John Day, I will be staying here again... as long as the price is still good and the rooms look like this, 👍👌

VERY HAPPY! Room was very clean, bathroom was totally updated. Even though this is an older establishment, it’s in very good condition and great for those using walkers or wheelchairs, because there are no steps to get into the room. Each room had a table with chairs, refrigerator, microwave, and TV with remote. Staff was great to work with as well. We will definitely be coming back!

Very friendly owner and clean room. Bed was a bit too firm, and not enough pillows. Great water pressure in the shower. Also, easy drive (or walk) to some good restaurants!
