NillThis hotel was extremely clean and so nice on the inside! It used to be a bank and I enjoy visiting places that have been restored into other things. There are vault doors still inside (which also doubles as a restaurant) and the location is near a lot of attractions and other restaurants. It is downtown so the parking is wonky. I parked on the street (the parking lot was full) and I wasn’t told anything about valet parking or anything. I didn’t feed the meter in time in the morning (checked out around 10:30AM) and I’d already gotten a parking ticket. I also didn’t have an iron in my room. Just some things to be mindful of but overall, I will visit this place again and would recommend!

NillBest place to stay in Sioux Falls. Best location, best style, great service, and frankly beats the socks off any of the other places that we could have picked. Rooms are unique, spacious, clean, with great views. Service is top notch. Facilities on site are great; plenty of places to meet with people, great fitness room, coffee shop is perfect (and priced comparably to anything around). Did I say location? 2 minute walk to all the active places downtown. Right next to the river walk. Ideal enough you could give up a rental car for the trip. Literally, perfect, in all the ways you can say. Overall cost; same as big name hotels, if not cheaper, and you just get a better stay. Face it, you've stayed in cookie cutter hotels all over the country, this is nearly a destination in an of itself.

★★★★★This hotel is special; it is a nice break from the brass and glass chains. Beautiful lobby in a well preserved historic building. Although historic, the rooms were fresh and modern and the bed was comfortable. Location is great; just a 10 minute walk to Falls Park. And the icing on the cake was that it was a good value.

NillI've visited Hotel on Philips many times, usually on Christmas Eve and sometimes in the summer. Everyone is kind and helpful, and the rooms and beds are great. As others have mentioned the location can be quite noisy. This trip I have a riverside view lending to a quiet room experience, but if you're facing the street, it will get loud with traffic, people, and motorcycles. I just wear ear plugs if needed. I knocked a star off for the rooms. They are showing some wear and tear with this trip. Our bedside table is peeling and the vinyl flooring is buckling. While minor they do take away from a boutique feeling. I also wish they had irons in the rooms. Otherwise the bathrooms are large and clean, and the beds are comfy. Would recommend!

NillMy friends and I stayed in the gold bar suite for new years and it was such a fun experience! The room was gorgeous and the service was great. The bar down below had amazing food and drinks as well. I would definitely stay here again!

NillReally nice hotel with updated rooms. Very interesting old building which used to be a bank. (They still have the massive vault door in the lobby.) Although I recommend the hotel, I do not recommend the cafe in the lobby for breakfast. I had a pastry and yogurt; the pastry was dry, the yogurt parfait had soggy cereal throughout and my coffee was not too good. Loved my room and the staff were excellent.

NillWhere do I begin? The concierge was super sweet and helpful at check-in. The front desk gentleman acted as if I was interrupting his nap! We love staying at boutique hotels as they are usually more personable. NOT this one. Room was nice, but floors were cheap vinyl that was buckling, window blinds were torn, the bed side table USB ports barely worked (you had to hold the cord at just the right angle and then not move), only one elevator was working for the 4 days that we were there, and the area of downtown that HOP is located in is EXTREMELY loud!!! There is a nightclub less than a block away, so party people are screaming well past 3am. Then there are the vehicles and motorcycles that use the parking garage across the street to spin cookies and/or do burnouts. There isn't enough parking for this hotel either, which is a headache. One morning, we went downstairs to the coffee bar (it was 9am). The coffee bar was closed (sign said it was to close at 12 pm that day), I said to the front desk person, "No coffee today?" Her response was,"Nope." There was no explanation, and no offer to get us more coffee pods for our in room coffee maker. My final complaint/annoyance was the TV situation. There were very few channels available, and in order to watch Netflix or any streaming service, you had to jump through hoops. The restaurant and bar were very neat and was definitely the best service we received during our stay. Drinks and food were expensive, but the food was delicious! Overall, I would not recommend HOP. Although it is a beautiful hotel, it just was not what we were expecting.
