The hotel was very hard to find even though it sticks out like a sore thumb on the corner of the street that it’s on. I drove past it multiple times because it looked like a residential hall to me. The room was booked on my behalf, so I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. It was also confusing to figure out how to get in and check into the hotel. I ended up parking in a very, very small 10 minute parking area on the side of the hotel. I had to go inside check in get parking and then drive around a corner to go into the parking complex. From there, I was able to ride the elevator up to my room. The room was quite nice, it was a little dusty, but other than that, it looked fine. The beds are super firm so if you like that, then you will be happy with it. I was not a big fan of how the bathroom was set up. There was no tub. It was just a very small walk-in shower similar to what you would see in a dorm.It was a bit small and a little hard to maneuver inside of. The room I had came with a small fridge microwave and a coffee machine which I thought was nice. I had a very nice view of camp Randall from my room.

I understand the location is something that can't be controlled. I was there for a wedding the weekend of 7-20-2024. The hotel only has 2 carts!! Absolutely ridiculous!! I've seen this mentioned in reviews from 2019! It certainly isn't a priority for them. When you have multiple bags to haul from the parking garage, carts certainly would help. The rooms are nice size, clean & very quiet. There is no breakfast included. There are several restaurants on 1st floor. The only 2 open on a Saturday were a coffee shop with very sad looking sandwiches in the case & an ice cream place. When you're not from the area thus is frustrating. I asked at the front desk Saturday where I could get lunch. I was directed to all the closed restaurants. In addition we had to pay $17 parking. Again RIDICULOUS!! I will definitely not stay here again when in the area.

Stayed at this hotel for SOAR (UW-Madison's Freshmen Orientation) and stayed 2 nights. The cost to stay here was expensive compared to other hotels and its benefits at this price. No free breakfast provided. You're really paying for convenience as SOAR is in the same building. Check in was confusing, we came in at 8:00pm and the Union South building was dark and no lights. We drove around a couple times and then called the front desk and said the Union looked empty. They said it's "super busy". We walked in, and literally, lights came on, and it was not busy at all. No one at the Check in desk, the building manager had to come help us find someone. Check out: left food in the room in refrigerator to store until Check out at 11am, went to grab the food at 10:30 and the housekeeping was already in the room cleaning but I had not checked out yet. No one knew what happened to the food, turns out they took it and "stored" it for us in the staff lounge incase we came back for it. Overall, 3/5 for convenience only. Over priced. Service was adequate. I'd probably not book here again unless it's something like graduation.

Love staying here! The rooms are always spotless and welcoming with small University of Wisconsin touches throughout. Front staff is always great, making check-in and out a breeze. The location within the UW Union South is hard to beat, especially on game day as Camp Randall is right across the street. Within the union itself, there a a few places to get something to eat or drink as well a great little store for Badger swag. Town is still an easy walk making all that downtown madison has to offer easily accessible.

We’ve stayed here multiple times and always love the location on campus, feeling like we could just return back to our glory days as students. Lots of food options during the day, and the bowling alley/pool tables are fun at night. Parking is very convenient. Our only complaint is that the rooms have not been upgraded since it was built. Some of the decor, particularly the bedding, is looking a bit tired. We were on the top floor and there was a funny banging noise in the morning coming from above us. It sounded like they kept dropping heavy items. We presume they were doing work but it started quite early and woke us up. We will request a lower floor next time.

Very nice accommodations. Just not a fan of downtown accessibility and parking. We appreciate you have to work with the space you have. Not the hotel's fault. Simply not our preference.

Very convenient for campus meetings. Rooms are modern and clean....walls z bit thing (or neighbours were noisy). Amenities on the main floor are lots of campus food...even a pub. Bed was comfy. Would likely stay here again if the opportunity arises.

Having graduated from the University in 1988 this has been on my bucket list for a long time. My wife & I LOVE the Union and visit often. Our wedding anniversary seemed the perfect time to tick this box! Pros: FANTASTIC location; open mic night prior; sunset; lovely room overlooking the Terrace; quiet; security door to rooms; clean room with everything you could need in a hotel room. Cons: I’m not a big fan of soft beds & fluffy pillows. Room 5 had both - like really soft and really fluffy! 😜 Not a deal breaker… but not my preference. We’ll do it again next summer when VO5 is playing the Terrace!
