We ended up staying here during a snowstorm after a horrible experience at another motel nearby—and what a relief. This place was exactly what we needed: clean, quiet, and comfortable. The rooms were spotless, well-maintained, and everything worked perfectly. We immediately felt safe and at ease here, which meant a lot since we were four women traveling with dogs in the middle of a storm. The staff was kind and check-in was smooth, even with the weather. It honestly felt like night and day compared to where we had just come from. The only area that could use a little improvement is the breakfast—it was pretty basic and kind of a mess—but still a nice touch during a tough trip. Overall, we were so grateful for this place. I’d absolutely recommend it and would stay again in a heartbeat.

Great experience. Good location, easy to get to. Room was clean and quiet even with guests on both sides of room, bed and pillows comfy. View of Rib Mountain. Many good options for breakfast, hot and/or cold. What I had was very good. Had dinner in hotel pub; staff and food was exceptional and good value. No issues with elevator to 5th floor; stairs work well too. Fair price for night. I’d stay here again.

Good place to spend a night— great price, good location. We were driving through Wausau and ended up eating at a nearby restaurant when we decided to stay the night. The Wausau Towers was easy to book online - definitely become a BW member to get the best rates. Our room was clean, and had great sun light in the morning. Quiet night- and decent breakfast in the morning with lots of options. I would stay here again.

A great Best Western hotel. Clean, efficient, and friendly. Our dogs were welcomed guests with an easy access pet area outside. The walk-in shower was unexpected, beautiful, and easy for my veteran spouse to access. Highly recommended the food at the bar and grill downstairs. The steak tacos, beans, and dirty rice were amazing. One of the best hotel breakfasts, too, with a yogurt dispenser. Beautiful, clean, and affordable. Definitely letting my U.P. veteran community know as many of us travel to Wausau for medical appointments.

I recently stayed at Best Western Plus Wausau Tower, and unfortunately, my experience fell far below expectations, especially considering the hotel is marketed as “pet-friendly.” 1. Pet Policy Issues: While the hotel website states it is pet-friendly, the staff showed minimal patience toward pets. On the first day, one of my dogs felt uncomfortable with the carpet, and we ran out of cleaning supplies to manage the situation. Because of the hotel’s circular design, the rooms are adjacent to each other, and my room was right next to the elevator. Naturally, my dog barked when staff walked by. Within minutes, I received a noise complaint and was threatened with eviction if the dog barked unsupervised again, despite showing up promptly to address the issue. 2. Rude Staff Behavior: A staff member seemed consistently upset and displayed poor customer service. For example, she insisted on cleaning the only elevator floor during peak usage, despite multiple customers trying to use it. When someone politely asked if she had to do it right then, her response was curt: “Yes, I want to do it right now.” 3. Double Charged for Pet Fee: I was initially charged $90 for two dogs for a 3-night stay, which I agreed to during check-in. However, on the third morning, I was unexpectedly charged an additional $120 at 6 AM without any explanation. While the general manager later promised to remove the extra charge, it never happened, and I’m now disputing it with my bank. 4. Elevator Issues: The hotel only has one elevator, which was not functioning properly during my stay. On the day of check-out, my group was stuck in the elevator for 10–15 minutes. Thankfully, no one was injured, but this could have been a serious safety concern. Overall, while the gentleman at the front desk during check-in was courteous, these issues made the stay unnecessarily stressful. I cannot recommend this hotel, especially for pet owners or those who rely on an operational elevator.

I was really surprised to see how disgusting this hotel and my room was. The bathroom is covered in mold. There was black and pink mold in the shower, around the toilet, and on the walls. The tiles in the shower looked like they hadn't been cleaned in a long time, and were covered in mold and dirt. There was hair all over the walls in the shower. It was very clear to me that the bathroom had not been cleaned prior to the last tenant or possibly in several weeks at least. There was dirt in many places on the walls. The sheets were stained. There are large gaps in the door frame that would easily allow someone to attempt to pry open the door. Photos of these issues are shown here. I stayed at this hotel for two nights, and ended up deciding to leave as soon as possible when a possibly drunk man attempted to enter my hotel room at 2:30 AM. I believe he was trying to get into his room next door and was not intentionally trying to get into my room, but it was irregardless a scary situation. I felt overall unsafe in this hotel, especially as a woman traveling alone. The hotel was unwilling to take responsibility for these health and safety hazards, and I was instead told that the mold and safety concerns were not real. A hotel room replacement would not have corrected the health issues present throughout the hotel. I have no doubt the other rooms are similarly impacted by mold and dirt. Some pros of the hotel were comfortable beds (despite the stained sheets) and convenient location. I did end up ending my stay early and had to find another hotel in the area last-minute. Overall, I would not recommend staying at this hotel, particularly if you are traveling alone and/or have any concern for mold health hazards.

Great stay for the price. Quiet, clean hotel. Bed is not very comfortable but is fine for an overnight. We'll lit location in a good part of town. Parking can be limited after 6 pm.
