Northern Sky Lodge

We stayed at Northern Sky Lodge for one night while passing through, hoping for a peaceful and restful stop unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. While the lodge is clean and cozy, it has some quirks and drawbacks that made the stay less enjoyable. First, noise is a big issue. The container of earplugs in the common area should’ve been a clue. We could hear guests snoring, using the bathroom, flushing toilets, and someone even using a hair dryer around 5 a.m. The walls are thin, and the shared facilities mean little privacy or quiet I barely got any sleep. Another surprise was the strict no-shoes policy indoors. You're not allowed to walk in with shoes on, and if you forget, you’ll get a friendly reminder via text. I’ve stayed in many lodges before, but this was the first time I encountered such a rule. While I understand the intention to keep things clean, it added to the feeling that the lodge was more rigid than relaxing. If you're a light sleeper or prefer a more laid-back environment, this may not be the best option. The setting outside is beautiful, but the experience inside didn’t live up to expectations.

Stayed at Northern Sky in February. They are very clear in what they offer. It is a very relaxed place to stay. Loved that there is a small number of rooms. Gives a more intimate feel when people gather in the dining area for breakfast. Met many friendly people at breakfast. It is located in the mountains approx 30 min from downtown Fairbanks. If you are going to see the northern lights, it is a great area. Rooms were very comfortable.

We were very impressed with the serenity and beauty of the lodge. The cooking facilities were a real bonus and it was great not having tv in the rooms.|They provided snowshoes for a nice trail experience and Rex (the host) was an informative and laid back guy.|We will be back to see another season.|There's lots to do in the area even though spring events don't start till mid-May.

I was not willing to go to downtown fairbanks, as I found it boring. As on our return from Denali NP, I figure to avoid the city, and I came across this. At first I wasn't too sure, but boy when I got there we fell in love with it. I was sad to leave, but we had no choice a we were flying back in the morning. I can't wait for my next trip so I can enjoy the peace and quiet lovely place❤️

We stayed three nights in January in the Bear room. The lodge is about a 30 minute drive from the Fairbanks Airport and far enough off the main road so it felt like we were really out in the wilderness. It's surrounded by a forest with trails to hike on, which was completely silent except for the crunch of snow under boots. Check-in was easy, continental breakfast was satisfactory and we enjoyed chatting with other guests. Our room was on the second floor, which we liked because we could look out the windows at the view from a little higher up. The bed was comfortable and we could control the heat to our liking. The only drawback of being on the second floor is that you have to use an outside staircase to get to the common rooms/breakfast, which meant bundling up when it was -20 outside.

Northern Sky Lodge was absolutely euphoric!! It’s a bit sketchy to drive there but absolutely worth it. As you drive down their private driveway you wind around the corner to their beautiful wooden lodge nestled in the middle of the woods. It’s so quiet and serene. The rooms are so inviting, warm, and comfortable.

A relaxed and comfortable rustic lodge outside of town where we met a lot of great people and explored the beautiful area. We filled a week with fun adventures, enjoyed the breakfast food and kitchen priveleges as well as snowshoeing and aurora viewing on the property. Lots of great things to do around Fairbanks.

We're had such a great time and we didn't mind being a half hour away from Fairbanks. The drive was like looking at postcards everyday and the views along the way are spectacular. The Grand Finale was we saw the Aurora. It was so far beyond there are no words. Thank you Northern Sky Lodge!
