The Outpost Lodge

Stop messing around with crummy overpriced hotels in Pierre! Outpost Lodge is close to town and a full service resort. The accommodations are lovely and the staff is top notch. I stay here a lot and it never disappoints!

I ate there again for the first time in probably 15 years. The food was amazing! Decent portions, time put into the plating, and the taste was excellent. I know the restaurant was struggling with staff shortages so we did end up waiting a little bit to get our bill but the quality of the food made up for it.

My kids and I had breakfast and drove around the area. Very good breakfast, and the views are awesome. A very good place to check out!!!!!

Our group were pleasantly surprised on the cabins space and cleanliness. The fishing was great the first day, we all limited out on walleye. unfortunately the weather did not cooperate the following few days. I highly recommend this lodge to relax and rest your head at night

My students spent a night in one of the cabins and were absolutely blown away by this beautiful hidden gem! Not only was the staff absolutely professional but also warm, welcoming and accommodating! Very great prices! And in the morning our school bus had a dead battery and the manager took the time out of her busy day to help us out and fixed our problem single-handedly! We are so grateful and happy! Thank you!!

My family and I stayed at a cabin at the Outpost for 5 days, and we had a wonderful visit. Brandon assisted me with my questions about the available cabins and my reservation. Charley checked us in and was super responsive to anything we needed. The cabin itself was well stocked, spacious, and very clean. I didn't realize that housekeeping would come daily, and that was a really pleasant surprise. Each of the four bedrooms had 2 queen beds, so it could accommodate a large group. At one point, we noticed some light bulbs were out in one of the bedrooms. Jim and Brenden came the same day (with Sassy, the cutest and best behaved dog - she made my mom's day) to fix them for us. They were both so friendly! All of the visitors staying at the Outpost were kind and the atmosphere was really fun. Everyone in my family of all ages loved it there. And the restaurant was great, as always. Thank you all for an amazing stay! We'll be back next year!

We enjoyed our stay in cabin 16 which has a view of Lake Oahe. The cozy cabin was clean and had all the amenities we wanted. The owners & all of the staff in the bar/restaurant were very friendly and welcomed us like family. Can't wait to come back to see our new friends at The Outpost Lodge, get some sun on the beach, and go on a guided fishing adventure.

We spent 3 nights at the lodge in a cabin last week, Brandon upgraded us to a larger cabin since it was off-season and it was wonderful. The staff, food and accommodations were all great! Thanks for all your hospitality, we will definitely be back!
