Alakhnanda Guest House

Need to walk for around half a km to reach the guest house. Rats in room at time of rains seems common. Rooms are good and comfortable.

I do not recommend this place. Over priced for a dirty room right next to a VERY loud temple. Maybe it was just our bad luck to have a dirty noisy room but we had to move after one night. Reception was not around and not overly friendly in the brief check in

As someone who has visited Varanasi many times over the years looking for the best hotel, I'm annoyed I only found Alakhnanda now because this hotel is easily the best value in the area. I have stayed in all the other surrounding hotels like Alka and Ganpatti and I much prefer this place. The room was so beautiful, spacious and clean with the best view. The hotel manager Akhshay was an absolute legend and always willing to guide and help me during my stay. Do yourself a favour and book this hotel!

Good to stay nearby Ghat, as most of the activities are almost nearby ghat. I didn't tried food due to food restrictions. Its Very near to Varahi Temple. Once you reach Varanasi, its better to call hotel people. As due to traffic restrictions vehicles movement is restricted. Hotel management will help you reaching the hotel. They even picked my call at 1:30AM as I reached late night due to flight late, and they helped alot to reach hotel. Rooms are small, but manageable.

Overall a pleasant experience of staying just at the Ganga ghat. The river & ghat is visible from the window. Staff is supportive. It’s a good option for those who want to spend most of their time at the ghat. Vishvanath temple & other temples are nearby. The only issue is no convenience in the vicinity as public transport is prohibited in temple area.

Pros: Excellent location. Entry is via a narrow lane off the old vishwanath gali. Nice view of the Ganges from the room. Basic amenities (read ac/geyser/heater, shared water purifier, washing machine). There is also a restaurant available in the ground floor. Also, after you enter the gate, there is no stair. You enter the first floor. The members will go out of their way to help you. Cons: Rooms are small and not clean. Rooms are very small. Room service does not exist, you will not find anybody most of the time. (The staff were very nice, but they are just not professional). Note: like any other place in this area, you can't take any vehicle (including rickshaw). The lane leading to this place is very narrow and quite dirty. Plus, to reach the gate of the GH, you have to take a few steep steps.

Wonderful stay at Alaknanda. Right next to famous Virahi Temple on the banks of Holy Ganga. Manager, Akshay remained helpful throughout our stay. He helped in every possible way to make our stay memorable. Arranged for all sightseeing tours, boat rides n airport transfer. U don’t need a guide when Akshay is there. Also, the other guy, Prashant was ever ready to get anything u required - Smiley 😊 boy. Last but not the least, Anna at cafe served delicious Dosas. Thanks Akshay n team to make our tour awesomely Memorable…
