My first solo trip after years, and it couldn’t have been more magical! Even if I had imagined the perfect getaway, it wouldn’t come close to the magic of my stay at Kavita’s Mountain Child Homestay. From the warm coordination to the cozy comforts, soul-nourishing food, thoughtful pampering, and breathtaking treks — every moment felt incredibly special. Kavita herself is such a gem — genuinely kind and a wonderful host. I came back with a full heart and happy soul — and I can’t wait to return! :)

It's located at a few miles away from the Hidimba Devi Temple, in a peaceful area close to nature .I rate the location high for its tranquility and scenic beauty. The homestay offers rooms, featuring mountain views. The rooms are designed to be comfortable and cozy, with a charm that matches the natural surroundings. The host, Kavita, is very friendly and and is known for offering local tips and making guests feel at home. The Manager Govind was there for us always and offered a warm hospitality. We got simple, home-cooked meals which were really good.We enjoyed the local cuisine, and the homely atmosphere which added to the over all experience .

We had a wonderful stay! The host was incredibly warm and welcoming, and the staff were just as friendly—it truly felt like a home away from home. The food was delicious, the place was spotless, and the comfort level was top-notch. I traveled with my partner and parents, and the host thoughtfully created customized itineraries based on everyone’s pace and preferences. She was also very accommodating with last-minute changes. My parents connected so well with the staff, which made the experience even more special. Highly recommended for nature lovers—whether you’re looking to relax in peace or go hiking and then unwind, this homestay is the perfect place to return to. Wish I could give it more than five stars!

Staying at Mountain Child was truly one of the highlights of our trip to Manali. Tucked away from the chaos of the town, the homestay sits in a peaceful corner with sweeping views of the valley and the city below. The moment we arrived, we felt like we had stepped into a calm, pristine world—surrounded by nature, with the added charm of a private apple orchard in the backyard. It was everything we hoped for and more. What made our stay extra special was Kavita and her incredible team. She didn’t just host us—she thoughtfully curated separate itineraries for both us and our parents. While our parents got to enjoy a slower, more relaxed experience filled with leisure and local charm, Kavita planned a more adventurous route for my wife and me—complete with camping and exploring. The balance & care she struck was just perfect. And then there are Buddy and Katara—the two adorable furry residents of the homestay. Well-behaved, full of energy, and always around to brighten up your day. Kavita’s commitment to sustainability is also something we deeply appreciated. From encouraging recycling and minimizing plastic use to incorporating eco-conscious practices in daily operations, she’s doing her bit to keep this little paradise carbon neutral. More importantly, the homestay is rooted in community. Kavita trains and employs staff from nearby villages, creating meaningful opportunities while making guests feel right at home. The food deserves a special mention too—delicious, nourishing, and free from refined seed oils (which was a big win for us). Most meals were cooked with ghee and tailored to our dietary preferences, featuring local Himachali dishes that felt both homely and special. By the time we left, we didn’t just take back memories—we also made a friend in Kavita. Thank you for the care, warmth, and love you poured into every detail. We’re already looking forward to returning next year.

I was introduced to this place when my hotel was over booked and we were stranded. Manali was cold but the place kept us warm and comfortable. The first thing I did was, go into the orchard and just sit amidst the trees, and ofcourse I made best friends with Katara. She’s feisty and so playful. The food was so tasty and healthy, felt like it was made with so much love and consideration. I spend most of my hours, outside on the patio, just enjoying the rain and playing with Katara. I didn’t even step outside the stay. I wish to be back real soon and maybe spend a few more days extra that time. Thank you for the warmth 🤍

Have traveled a couple of times with Mountain Child Stay and could not recommend it more highly to mountain lovers. I traveled with 2 kids (who were 4 and 6 years old first time) and I simply couldn't believe my kids did the level of intensity we could go because of Kavita and her team's support. Hands on it has to be one of the most fun holidays my kids and I have had ever. The second time as well we did another set of climbs with another set of my friends and we all absolutely loved it. Can't wait to return. Mountain Child stay will be my forever home. The food is home cooked and absolutely delicious influenced by local Manali cuisine. Kavita and her team ensured that there was a diverse range of foods that were just right to keep our health on the mountains and also ensuring we never got bored and kept looking forward to the next and next meals (including my kids). Kavita is a pure soul with an approach and concept to be sustainable to local communities and every step of the way she was mindful and respectful of the mountains, making sure we never threw litter here and there, and also sharing so much information about various aspects of Mountain life and authentic living in harmony with Himalayas and mother earth, making these trips such pure joy and bliss. thank you Kavita :)

We couldn’t have wished for a better place to stay! We immediately felt at home when we arrived at Mountain Child’s Stay, with its comfortable rooms, amazing views, and delicious meals. Kavita, Raj and Jaggu are super attentive to all of your needs, making it so easy and nice to enjoy the peacefulness and nature around you. As we wanted to hike in the region, the team further organised everything to accompany us on a multiple days trek in a fun and sustainable way. We had an amazing time with Raj on the Hampta Pass, who planned everything so well and guided us on the trail so that we could enjoy it as much as possible far from the crowds. The camping equipment was really qualitative and we thoroughly enjoyed the sustainable approach of the team, with fresh meals being cooked every day at camp without leaving any waste behind. We wish the other trek agencies could follow this path too. A little surprise was even planned for us when we reached the pass after two days of hiking, making the experience even more memorable. We don’t have enough words to describe how amazing everything was. Thank you again!
