The cleanest and best homestay in varkala where you can relax and feel at home with friendly hosts Rose and Radha. Rose is very helpful if you want help or advice as she is a long time varkala resident. Highly recommended.

I stayed at Gumnut for 5 nights in January. I was made to feel very welcome by guesthouse owner Rose and I loved my spacious and very clean room. I had also booked a few nights at Soul and Surf across the road and my room there was smaller and much more expensive. I returned to Gumnut afterwards for a couple of nights which was lovely. One of my favourite experiences in Varkala was the cooking lesson Rose organised for me with her friend who lives locally. Rose took me shopping for ingredients and I learned how to make different Keralan dishes in Rose's friends home. It was really fun and I felt like Rose went out of her way to help make sure I had a nice time in Varkala. I would definitely recommend this guesthouse to anyone considering a visit to Varkala, it is also really easy to reach the beach and the North Cliff from here.

I stayed at Gumnut for nearly 3 weeks and appreciated having an AC, big balcony and kitchen facilities on hand. Everything in the place is very clean, a rare thing in India. Best of all, nothing was broken - also rare in India! ||Rose was very helpful organising rickshaws for me most days and helping me to find the things I needed in town. ||I’d recommend taking a balcony room and enjoying breakfast there with a view of the garden. Also, go across the road to Soul and Surf for dinner and movies some night.

One of the best home stays in varkala. Close to Varkala beach and a few famous cafes. Rose, the person in charge, was very friendly and helpful. Our room was very clean, spacious and it gave a feel like home experience. There was a kitchen too where we can cook our own quick foods.

The Gumnut Homestay is located in the quieter South Beach area of Varkala on a very nice street.It is a 5 min walk to Papanasham Beach and a 15 min walk to the busier North Cliff Beach.|We booked for two weeks but travelled to other parts of Kerela and Tamil Nadu during that time. We were able to leave stuff at the homestay, knowing it would be safe there.|The Gumnut is spotlessly clean and our room was very comfortable and had everything we needed. There is a large communal kitchen and social space with a fridge and some limited cooking facilities.There is also a roof where you can dry clothes.|Rose, the owner is very helpful and helped us a lot with travel arrangements.|All in all, it was a wonderful experience.|
