Staying at Norbu Gakyil felt like visiting my own family’s home! As a travel content creator, I’ve stayed in many places, but this homestay is truly special. Rigyal, our amazing host, went above and beyond to ensure our comfort—whether it was recommending hidden gems, arranging transportation, or sharing stories about the local culture. One of the most memorable days was making momos with Uncle—it was such a warm and fun experience! When I injured my foot, Aunty took care of me like her own family. Tshering the cutest little sister cooked the most delicious Tibetan meals that felt like pure comfort. Their two adorable fur babies, Gonpo and Shindu, added so much joy to our stay, and Nani’s kindness truly touched our hearts. Rigyal was not just a host but like a younger brother to us, always there to help with a smile. Staying at Norbu Gakyil isn’t just about visiting Darjeeling—it’s about creating lasting memories with a family that genuinely cares for their guests. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a homely, heartfelt experience!

From our arrival to our heartfelt 4 am farewell, Righyal and his family welcomed us with open arms, effortlessly blurring the lines between host and guest. Their genuine warmth made me feel instantly at home. Each day began with a soothing ritual: warm water followed by authentic Darjeeling tea, evoking memories of my own family traditions. The love and care infused into their traditional Tibetan cuisine and shared stories will remain etched in my heart. Righyal's personalized tours were a rare treat, forging an unforgettable bond between us. Thank you for understanding my awkwardness before camera and taking good pictures ;) This home, and the hearts that inhabit it, have left an indelible mark on mine. I'll return, not just to revisit a place, but to reunite with the family that welcomed me as one of their own.

We loved our time at Norbu Gakyil house . That VIEW!!! The views are incredible, the location is quiet and relaxing. The house has all you need to cook and enjoy the amazing outdoors.

Hare Krishna 🙏. The best Homestay in Darjeeling where I met this beautiful family, I felt like home and they have treated me like their own. I am really grateful and thankful that I have stayed at Norbu Gakyil Homestay, this homestay is surrounded by nature which is so mesmerising (words will not justify) and the whole family is really very sweet. I am really greatful that I met Boju,Aunty,Uncle,Baini,Rigyal. Learned to cook Tibetan dish (bread) from Baini(such a sweetheart she is).Everything about this homestay is awesome it’s only because of this Sweet and lovely Family. Thank you so much Rigyal. The homestay is located near batasia loop. The owners of this homestay is very cordial and will welcome you as their own people. The food is great and if some like Tibetan cuisines then it's paradise for them. I would love to visit this place again

Our host - Rigyal - was kind enough to come all the way to the main road to help us with our luggage. Once we reached the stay, even though it was late afternoon, our host offered to make us lunch. The home-cooked food was amazing! We had some amazing conversations with the family, ranging from politics to agriculture. Rigyal himself is a civil services aspirant and his dad, an army veteran. In the evening, we were given a tour of the hill covering different types of agriculture, beautiful sunset and a pretty flower garden. We also met 3 cuties - Gonpo, Shindu and Dalli - their pet pups who were so friendly! To talk about the stay, it was beautifully furnished. The family too, are amazing people who always have a smile on them. The stay is situated downhill. If arriving with luggage, I'd recommend hiring a porter beforehand.

When I say I absolutely felt at home here, I mean it. Never knew homestay's can actually make you feel at home. The family was so welcoming and the house is so beautiful. And of course the food is to die for. My first ever Tibetan food experience was just amazing. Would definitely recommend it to everyone.
