The Shire Kalimpong

If you have ample time in your hand, then come at this place only. Taste is average. Normal order of veg fried rice, chilly chicken, chilly paneer for four people took more than one hour to serve when there were only a few customer. The only good thing is ambience. If you ever want to test your patience come to this place.

Very poor. Takes too much time for serving. Come with all your patience and at least one and half hour before your breakfast/lunch/snacks/dinner time.

So this stay was our best stay in the trip. 3 of us were there they gave us good room in cheap rate. Manager was helpful He guided us in exploring other places, good hospitality, Mr. Pravesh was present to serve us and was very proficient in his soft spoken language. They do have a roof top cafe with a great view and with a great ambience. If you are looking for a stay where you can work and enjoy so this is the best place. You will get wifi. We really enjoyed staying here very nice people.

Very good place to stay. Rooms are very spacious and have an extra single bed. It was very clean everywhere in the hotel. Mountain view from the hotel was excellent. Very polite and calm behaviour from the staffs. Food was also very good and hygienic. You have to give the order for the food before hand and location of it is a bit far from the market.

If you enjoy the simple, basic life, Shire Homestay is a lovely place for you.||Located at a 15 min walking distance from the town market, its a pretty property with greenery all around. My favorite part was the terrace where you can laze on the hammock and get an awesome view of the mountains. ||The rooms are neat and clean and on 3 levels that go downwards, so do be clear during booking if you need a room for senior citizens to avoid using the stairs each time you have to step out. There are 2 rooms on the ground level with a balcony just outside that are quite nice. The triple rooms we took were also very spacious. However, do be prepared to encounter various insects(expected as you are surrounded by trees) and keep your rooms shut to avoid these. And the toilets could do some with some work to make then more presentable. ||The staff is very pleasant, efficient and hardworking. They could probably do with some more hands when all rooms are occupied. |||

Stayed 3 nights. Far from the crowd but still can walk to city center (or take a 10 rupee taxi drive). Staff is amazing, all of them, very helpful and attentive. Food is great and room is spacious, spotless clean. You feel at home from the first minute. They will come to take your order from your room for breakfast if you don’t go down on time ;)||Thanks for a great experience. We wished to have more time there.

This is a lovely place tucked away on a hill. Just a quick walk from the town. Very serene setting with beautiful grounds and nice views. There is a quiet about the place that was very pleasing to me. The staff are efficient and responsive. The food is very good. I did not eat anywhere else! It is completely clean everywhere. There is a rooftop terrace with seating and some hammocks. It has a very nice view and is protected from the sun.
