NillWe stayed for 4 nights, location is totally worth the money. Thanks to Lionel for hosting. Breakfast timing is bit late, need to improve. Rooms (above floor) are good with clear view of Sunset through windows. Beach is hardly a minute walk.

NillIf you are looking for a simple room next to beach, go for this. Premium hotels charge you 3-4 times than stay options like theirs next to beach. Since there was price differential, we were sceptical and went with open mind. It is just a room with comfortable bed and some spare space for an extra bed of needed. Basic options like kettle, coffee & tea sachets, ac, fridge is provided. What we liked: * Of course like everyone said, Lionel is very responsive and helpful. Discuss anything and he will give you inputs. * Bang Next to beach. You do not need to wear chappals as you are already on sand * Most convenient if you need to head back and you can stay late or venture early. No efforts needed * Room at GF was comfortable avoiding climb up a narrow fleet of stairs * Restaurant folks are good and customised food for us as per our and kids ask. * If your train / flight is at a wierd time (mostly is the case), discuss with Lionel on convenient paid extensions based on room availability. * It is on Calangute Public beach so you will have people movement. It is not a private beach. Things to be mindful : * A bit away from main road so you need to walk out for anything * Attached restaurant opens at 12 noon so for breakfast you need to look out. There is a small place called RepEat which opens at 8.30 am * If you are staying down in the room we stayed the toilet was at 2 levels with a step down to access wash basin. Old people need to take care. Overall very good experience of stay in this nice and simple stay option. Simply put it is like a homestay option minus food.

NillBooked 2 rooms here, rooms are spacious and clean, very close to beach, owner seems friendly but There was no hot water during winter season so it was difficult to have a bath, no washroom supplies like shampoo, brush, toothpaste even after charging hefty amount for rooms. Parking is also problem if you are carrying your own vehicle, you have to park them on street. Overall okay type place, nothing much. You can get it if it’s prices appropriately.

★★★★Such a fantastic location, a real love. Just sit in the restaurant and have some drinks take few steps to the south and here it is "The Arebian Sea". The waves will play as lullaby in the night while sleeping and will raise alarm in the morning as well. ||Service, staff and food are not bad.. just ok. Room size and cleanliness are average.||The only and real deal is the location.||Lovable place to be.

NillGuys this is a must visit place. The best selling point of the hotel is the location of the hotel and the Flying Dolphin restaurant 20 steps from the hotel. The Flying Dolphin restaurant serves the most delicious authentic goan food and variety of cocktails and shots to go with. The Room I stayed in was a lovely room with the most awesome view. The gallery was huge with relaxing wooden bed, chairs. The rooms were neat and clean. Waking up to a beach view I guess is the most relaxing holiday anyone can every think of. I was sleeping in the balcony in all 3 days of my stay. A very safe place for solo travelers. The owner and the staff in the hotel was very polite and helpful. Guys I would definitely rate the hotel as 5 on 5. I am gonna stay in this place on my every visit to Goa.

★★★★★.||||We have just returned from our third stay at the Golden Eye and have in fact paid a deposit for a fourth visit next year. We do stay in one of the upstairs boutique rooms which do have great sea views. The hotel doesn't have a twenty four hour reception but then it doesn;t advertise a twenty four hour reception.||The rooms are cleaned daily and the towels are changed on alternate days which is not unusual in this part of the world, it is a simple matter of water conservation, after all, do you change your towels every day at home? There is a fridge, kettle complimentary tea, coffee and two bottles of water a day. The only thing missing is an in room safe which we hope is being addressed.||We know every one of the Mascharenas family by name and have found every one of them, without exception,to be polite, friendly and helpful and the same applies to their staff.||We concede that the rooms could do with a little spruce up and that the Golden Eye is not a four or five star hotel but if you want four or five star accommodation be prepared to pay four or five star prices.||The restaurant serves excellent and very reasonably priced food and there is also a very well stocked bar. Unlike certain reviewers above, who haven't told the whole truth and have been extremely selective in their comments, we have no problem with the Golden Eye. The hotel has many repeat guests and we can't wait to get back there next year.for us it's like going home for two weeks.
