Hotel Dev Cottage

Stayed here for 1 night...totally embarassing experience. First thing,the location of the hotel is so far away from main market, in the valley. Secondly, the food is really expensive. The staff was very less as there is much delay in service. They should focus on these little things to improve their image. Room was okay to stay, washroom was fine.

Me and my friends booked 2 rooms in this Cottage/Hotel. The worst part about it was the location. The location marked on the map was wrong which took us nearly 45 minutes of random walking before reaching the exact location. Even after we found out the exact location, the road back to Mcleodganj was nearly 25 minutes. Clean rooms and washrooms. There was water, towels, soap, and shampoo available to us.

We visited Mcleodganj and stayed in Dev Cottage on 15-16 April 2017. The cottage is run by Dr Kumar. He is very friendly and always available. ||The cottage is about 2.5 km from main center. You have to hire taxis tun by locals as a shuttle. But they charge around Rs 150/- normally. But if it is a traffic jam like during holidays we went in, they may charge Rs 300/- one side also. But thats ok.||The cottage has been priced reasonably. We were charged Rs.2500/- per night per room. The beds are simple, rooms are large, good view from windows, room service is fast, food is decent, staff is helpful.||In general, it gave us a very good feeling of relaxation though no luxury. Outside every cottage, there is common garden where one can sit in the free hours, relax, do yoga etc etc.||There is view of mountains (not snow capped Himalayas as some travellers photos show). Dharamkot and Bhagsu is walkable distance, but in opposite directions. ||Dharamkot is very popular with foreigners.||Dr Kumar recommended us to visit 'Family Pizzeria' at Dharamkot. The Pizza was no doubt very very delicious, but you have to walk deep in Dharamkot village to reach there. But it is a must have.||Overall, Dev Cottage is a must stay place, cheap, decent, and friendly.

Amazing place to stay, cool and calm. High on a hill surrounded with greenery, beautiful environment. Each cottage has its own mini garden and the whole place has several lawns. You will never get bored of it. Excellent place to be with family or friends or even if you are alone.

This hotel is in Dharamkot, which is near to Mcleodganj bus stop,(70 -100rs) fare by auto/ taxi. For everything you would need to come down to Macleodganj. My friend and I reached this hotel on 12th nov.My friend had already communicated that it was my birthday but no arrangements were made!||Room views and breakfast is good and this is the only good thing about the property. When we reached, we were told they don't accept cards, so had to pay cash (in a cash crunch time). Was very hard to believe since they run such a big hotel. Anyways, since it was too cold, we asked for room heater- for using heater, they asked us to pay 300 rs, so we decided not to use it. No wifi, they said its not working. took 3170 for a night !!!!||Overall, I felt the services weren't that great. Won't recommend it !

This is a very basic place & great value for money. The rooms are very clean & has all the basic necessities. The view from the cottages is stunning & the staff are very responsive making really good omelette & tea.

I always refrain myself from sharing but this time I could not resist myself. I stayed at Dev Cottage for two days (21-23rd June,2016) with the family including my parents. And what one can expect from a Hotel situated at a Hill station? Great View Nice Room Lovely ambience Personalize service Away from crowd This hotel has everything which takes you close to nature. On top of it Mr Sharma (Owner) who is an amazing personality and inherent hotelier, who takes really good care of his guests and gives his 100% to make their stay comfortable and memorable. 2 THUMPS UP!

Came here in what o guess was the “off” season. Staff was rude and ripped us off. Room was covered in dust- they didn’t bother to wipe anything down. Charged nearly $10 US for a heater from the Stone Age. Power was off most the night room freezing and the shower was abysmal. I’m sure there are better options in the area.
