New Volga Palace Hotel

I had a booking at this hotel. The owner Mr Saji Kumar was quite rude and arrogant when I told him that I had a booking. He wasn't even willing to listen to me as to when the dates were. He kept yelling that there are no rooms as there are foreigners presently staying and they are going to be there for few more weeks. He even warned me that if I were to come I would not be getting any room. I was speaking in English at first and perhaps thought language was the barrier. I then switched to malayalam as am a native of Kerala however the tone didn't improve one bit. I really wonder what sort of a shady place this is.

An aesthetic hotel very near to the beach.100 meter walk will get you to the beautiful part of kovalam beach.The hotel itself is very beautiful and well maintained. There are enough shops and a local restaurant nearby for food that is very value for money.The staff are great and rooms are ok for the price.

My wife, my son and I stayed here for two days. A very nice, quiet and pleasant place with pleasant rooms. There was peace of mind without any disturbance. We spent our free time very meaningfully.

Nice hotel. Close to the beach. Rooms clean and spacious. Manager is a very calm and soft spoken guy. He is helpful in nature. The housekeeping guy is ever smiling. He helped us with our luggage early morning at 6 am.

Great hotel, relaxing experience. Away from the crazy noise on the beach, and yet only steps away. The hotel was clean, had a nice sized wet room, my own refrigerator, full size bed and pillows, the a/c worked really well, I had a TV, but I never watched it. The staff were super friendly and helpful, and they offered laundry service as well. The Ayurvedic Center on the rooftop run by Dr. Akhil is top notch. All of his therapists are experienced and intuitive. What a bonus to find a clean and safe hotel, and Ayurvedic Center in the same building. It is super convenient to simply walk down the stairs and enter your room after treatment. I have been coming to India for over 20 years from the US. I highly recommend the New Volga Palace. I have experienced many clinics, where you stay at the same place you have treatment, and this is the first place I have come across where I truly feel comfortable.

Stayed there in March 2018 and am really happy and satisfied with the hotel. The new people who have taken over and are running it now are very friendly and helpful in everything. The location from the beach is just a couple of steps (closer than I thought actually) and the price is very good. The rooftop ayurveda center is super professional. Had been going to them already last season when they only had one center a bit further away from the current one, but the new fresh premises and the professional staff with dr Akhil is just super super good!

We found this place by accident. I rarely give any 5* reviews but this one deserves it for several reasons: 1) location - a few metres from the beach and surrounded by a quaint market place. The beach is one of the finest I have ever seen. I am comparing it with Hawaiian and Caribbean beaches! To stay that close on a very clean and beautiful beach with awesome market place is heavenly. 2) clean AC rooms with refrigerator, comfortable beds, clean spacious bathroom with hot water. 3) Excellent staff. They would do anything for you! 4) Very reasonable cost of stay. 5) The massage facility on roof top was excellent. We took 3 massages - hand massage full body, foot massage full body and ayurvedic massage for ladies. All massages were top notch and would compare with the best we had in other parts of the world. A few downsides: 1) There is no direct vehicle access to the facility. But this should not deter anyone. Just call them up and they will transport your luggage back and forth for free. 2) if the room is smelly pick another one. We wanted 3 room and one of the rooms was smelly but others were good. 3) wifi was good near the router without the antenna! I think they should upgrade it. 4) switches can be a bit flimsy as the boards are old but they function well. 5) there is no restaurant attached but there are plenty around. So this is not really an issue.

We pre-booked the Palace room via email. On arrival we kept getting deferred to different members of staff, none were aware of our booking. They showed us to our room...which was not the palace room. We explained it was not the one we had booked so they kept showing us different rooms. We eventually made it to the right room! ||It was very dirty, there was dirt and hand prints on the bed sheets and the woodwork looked sticky. I didn't want to touch anything, let alone sleep there! We were shown to the balcony, a pile of broken tiles! And told about the sea view...another building, which we were told the sea was behind! ||The bathroom was ok but we were told one of the taps wasn't working so they would charge us less...then quoted the actual price on the website as a reduced one.||We have never been to India and were't sure what to do as this may be the norm for cheap accommodation. Having spent 2 weeks in other hotels, it is not. We left the hotel and were so glad we did as we managed to get a lovely room at the nearby 'cocoland' and negotiated a good price.
