NillThe location is just amazing. Beautiful greenery and so much natural life all around. The oxygen levels are high here which makes it a perfect place for a staycation with family or friends. It's usually a very quiet place and there's so much to explore. This jungle lodge is located inside a huge Tiger reserve but don't worry... There are no tigers here. This place just happens to be inside a very huge and vast area as part of the reserve. To see a tiger here is extremely rare if not nearly impossible. Also, there are lots of monkeys here which are pretty fun at the beginning but beware if you happen to have food with you, do not take it out or else they'll come for them. Also, make sure to always close and lock the doors while leaving, or else monkeys would disturb you in your sleep. Anyway, the hotel itself is pretty fine and the 2-star rating they've got is well deserved. I liked that there were very few insects in the rooms which were also pretty neat and clean by the way. Good job team.

NillA calm and scenic stay in the jungle (The Periyar Tiger Reserve). Clean and well maintained property with complementary breakfast and slightly expensive buffet-only dinner 😁. Enjoy the morning and evening walk around the property to feel the nature. They also arrange boating tickets. Just one tip: keep an eye out for the monkeys... they’re curious little visitors 😉

NillThe hotel is located deep inside a dense jungle, which sounds exciting at first, but it comes with major drawbacks. The biggest issue is that entry to the property is not allowed after 5:30 PM, so if you’re planning to explore Thekkady or watch any evening shows, it’s just not possible. The rooms are quite old and average, with no balcony. You have to keep the windows shut all the time because there are too many monkeys around. The monkeys are everywhere — they’re not scared of people and can even snatch bags or things from your hand or shoulder. Because of this, even the small park area isn’t enjoyable for kids. There are also a lot of mosquitoes inside and outside the rooms. I ended up checking out early and moving to a hotel in the city, which was a much better experience. The only plus point is that you can take a peaceful walk in the greenery during the day — but after 5:30 PM, you’re practically stuck inside your room.

NillThis place is located inside the Perriyar National Park. It is very close to the boat ride point. Rooms are fine. You can witness wild animals near this stay if you are lucky. We got a chance to see a Sambar deer just outside the room. You need to be careful from the monkeys. They are freely roaming around the premises in the day and can enter the room if you don't keep an eye. Restaurant food was fine.

NillAll together brilliant, nice clean rooms, functional bathrooms, nice view to the front. Service is very good with universally helpful staff. Awesome food. The breakfast buffet was especially tasty. We ordered the dinner in advance which helps the kitchen also to prepare in time. There are quite a lot of options for leisure with swings, hammocks and see-saws. There is a basketball and a badminton court too in the back. There is no driver's room as such, but subject to availability, you can book a single room for him.

NillRecently stayed at KTDC Periyar House and had an absolutely wonderful experience. Everything about this place exceeded expectations—from the serene location right inside the Periyar Tiger Reserve to the warm and attentive service provided by the staff. The manager and the entire team were incredibly kind, helpful, and professional. The food served was also excellent—fresh, tasty, and well-prepared, adding to the overall comfort of the stay. One of the highlights was the chance to see wildlife right from the property—we spotted lots of monkeys, a porcupine, and even other wild animals during our stay. It was such a unique and exciting experience, especially for nature lovers. The surroundings were calm, green, and very well-maintained, making it a perfect escape from the chaos of city life. It’s also ideal for families with children, thanks to the large playground and spacious areas to walk and explore safely. I would highly recommend Periyar House to anyone visiting Thekkady. It's peaceful, comfortable, the food is great, the wildlife experience is incredible, and the service is top-notch. A truly memorable stay!

NillWe visited KTDC Periyar House on 31st March 2025 as part of a family holiday. The biggest plus of this property is its superior location—right inside the forest and isolated from the main city, around 1 to 1.5 km away from Thekkady town. It definitely offers a peaceful and quiet environment. The property is quite old but has been maintained decently. We booked the so-called *Jungle View Rooms*, but to our surprise, they don’t really offer any jungle view. Instead, the rooms overlook the entrance lawn and garden area. The rooms are quite compact and barely have enough space for an extra bed, which might be a concern for families. However, the washrooms were clean and well-kept. One noticeable issue was the presence of monkeys around the property. Though it’s in a forest area, the windows didn’t have any protective jali or mesh, which is a bit concerning for safety and hygiene. The food at the in-house restaurant was very average and definitely has room for improvement. The breakfast spread was decent, but they could consider adding a few desserts or cakes to make it a little more appealing. One convenient feature is that you can book your boat safari right from the booking counter at the hotel itself. That was helpful and saved us some time. Overall, it was an okay experience. You can consider this place if you’re looking to stay in peaceful surroundings close to nature. As a bonus, we even spotted a big Barasingha in the hotel premises at night, which was quite a sight.
